Taxi Driver saves woman from sex attack

A HULL taxi driver saved a woman from being sexually assaulted after she became separated from her friends during a night out.

Police are appealing for the taxi driver who rescued the woman from three men to come forward as they begin their hunt for the attackers.

The 24-year-old woman was on a night out with friends in Hull city centre on Friday night when she lost her friends.

She was walking alone when she was approached by a man she did not know. He grabbed hold of her and pulled her into a doorway.

The man is then believed to have taken hold of the woman and pulled her into a doorway close to House Of Fraser in Ferensway.

Two other men then came to join him.

The men, all of Eastern European descent, were pulling at the woman's clothing before the taxi driver saw what was happening and the men ran away.

A Humberside police spokesman said: "Police would like to reassure people that incidents of this nature are very rare in Hull and that the woman did not sustain any injuries in the incident.

"The investigation is currently in the very early stages and police would like the taxi driver and anyone who may have witnessed the incident."

The taxi driver, who was driving a black cab, gave the woman a lift home as she recovered from her ordeal.

The attack is believed to have taken place between 10pm on Friday and 4am on Saturday morning.

Police would like to find the taxi driver as he may have vital evidence that could help detectives bring the attackers to justice.

One of the offenders is described as being in his early to mid-30s.

Anyone with information should call Humberside Police on 101, quoting crime number 1980677.

Got to give praise to the driver, not many I Know that would risk their own safety to save someone else's humanity.

I think making plenty of noise by blowing the horn will end many similar attacks.

Just think how helpful front facing CCTV would have been.

Probably no use whatsoever as the car was probably on the road alongside the shops where the men had the woman in a doorway. #-o

When it comes to a loan women walking home at night you go beyond the call of duty.

I suspect the car wasn't stationary and drove down the road towards the incident, hopefully collecting footage.
