Taxi drivers bound by law to carry guide dogs’

Aberdeen Disability group raised concerns some drivers refused on ‘religious grounds’



TAXI: Aberdeen’s Disability Advisory Group raised concerns drivers were refusing to allow assistance dogs into their cabs.

ABERDEEN council officials have been told taxi drivers are legally bound to take guide dogs in their cars.

Concerns had been raised by representatives of Aberdeen’s Disability Advisory Group that some drivers were refusing to take the animals on “religious grounds.”

But a report from the Equality and Human Rights Commission has said: “There is a legal requirement to permit access to assistance dogs and such beliefs are not a defence against non-compliance.”

Nobody said they were discriminating against any particular racial group's guide dogs. The guide dogs don't grasp the concept either.

That looks like the taxi Drivers Dog, It seems to be Guiding him to parking on double yellows just to get it's own back for him giving it a Toffee so he could hear which end was chewing so he could kick it up the arse just like he did the last time Fido parked him on Double Yellows.

It's not Gus that's making that decision, it's the Law makers who made it, all Gus is pointing out is that they have legal obligations..like it or lump it.

Muslims did not enter this line of work blindly, they knew the law before they started as It would be written in their Taxi/PH drivers license Contract, Knowing that they were legally obliged to carry Guide dogs should have made them sit back and think about whether this career was for them or not on religious grounds.

No point in entering a career that you knew that in parts would clash with your religious beliefs and then expecting the Rules of the job to bend just to suit you.

We can't have one set of laws for them and another for us, It's either accept the laws as they stand or they can go change professions to appease their own Gods.

I'm not denying anyone anything. He is doing that to himself by trotting out an excuse which his own religious people have discredited.

The law says a taxi driver must carry an assistance dog when required. The only exception permitted by the law is for medical reasons and if you have a medical reason, you apply for an exemption certificate.
All of this has been around since the 1995 DDA, it was added to the CGSA in 2003 and I now believe it forms part of the 2010 Equality Act.
Here in Aberdeen, it also forms part of the conditions of licence.
These are things you agree to be bound by when you first apply for a licence and again every time you renew it.
If this driver has a problem with any of this, he should not agree to it, and should say so on his application form.
That would be the honest way to object. Not agreeing, then breaking the conditions or the law when it suits.



I'm a taxi driver who complies with the legal requirements of the law and the conditions attached to my licence.

I could ask you the same, but I honestly don't give a shiit.
