City of Edinburgh Council are running a protection racket by erstricting taxi licences.
How can it be right, when we all are supposed to be equal, and we have legislation that suggests we are, for someone in east Lothian, West Lothian or London, to have access to their own taxi, when I, in Edinburgh, am denied equal status with them? Denied because of the council's protection racket.
Where is my right to equality? Sacrificed on the altar of protecting the haves in the trade, who actively deny the have nots, so that their taxi licence comes with the subjugated slave labour that allows them to bleed their drivers dry.
BTW We don't need more taxis, just a party tariff to encourage those owners who don't want the inconvenience of meeting public demand at peak periods to get off their butts and service the cash cow that is the public taxi user.
And how can it be right that a taxi company who refuses to allow their drivers to pick up the public, and drive past the hailing hands so as to serve their own pre-booked customers, is allowed to refuse drivers, who would happily pick up those members of the public, access to their own vehicle in order to do so?
The stench of wholesale corruption in all things political and taxi trade here is overwhelming.
Jasbar, you really do need to take a step back, take a deep breath and chill the [edited by admin] out!!
I'm grateful you do go on about deristriction at such a Titanic rate, but like the Titanic your hopes are well sunk!! There is a system in place that allows the sale of plates, it has been in operation for a reasonable length of time and it's purpose works well. It allows people who wish to own their taxi do just that and it allows others who just wish to rent do just that, everyone's happy!! Apart from Jasbar. So to deristriction. Would there be any more taxis on the road, possibly at first but then as the guys were not making enough money they would soon sell up again. You see Jasbar if the drivers at the moment were given a plate they would then need to purchase their Taxi. The running costs would be absorbed by the owner as their would be no drivers to employ. In time the situation would return to Status Quo!!
You Jasbar would still be getting the right of way driving your Tram on rails provided so that you couldn't veer off track!! You should try and apply the same principles to your daily life and try and stay on track!!
I'm only trying to help you Jasbar.
Have a nice day.
