The car is getting repaired on the 8th of july okay, i got a letter from his insures i phoned them they said the car would have to go to a bodyshop of their choice and i would NOT be compensated for my days off work, if i went through my own insurance the next time i renew the put your policy up and get their money back, as for telling the council the damage done is hardy worth noting, its only i tiny crack and a damaged plate

Do you know how insurance company's work? If you make a non fault claim, your insurance company works for you. It will recover all the costs from the other party, including a loan car whilst yours is off the road and you will not lose any no claims at the end of it or get a loading for the next 500 years. I don't know what the rules are in your Manor but here, if you have any kind of accident in the cab, you have to report it to the Council within a certain time and they will inspect the car to see if it can still be used. Failing to inform them could be classed as non disclosure and you could get a suspension. After all you are going to have to explain the broken plate to them, unless you think lying to them is a good idea.

His Insurers may not bother about him not reporting it, but wait till he needs to claim and finds his insurance voided...

Its not often the ball is 100% in YOUR court, but this was one such case, I hope it doesnt come back to bite you mate, report it as a non-fault accident to your insurers or risk trouble later

Of course his insurance were not going to do what you needed. You are not their client. Are you sure that you have got insurance of your own? I can't believe that you want to pay for the damage caused by someone else. :?

My current policy runs out in September, if me paying for very minor damage means the car is going to be off the road for as minimal time as possible then that what needs to be done

You just don't get it do you. If you go through your insurance you won't be off the road at all and because the accident was not your fault you will not be penalised for the claim. THIS IS WHY WE HAVE INSURANCE!

I only picked up on this thread last night and cannot believe what I am reading!

UT11

I was recently Feb 28th T-boned in my own private motor.....here is how it went.

The other person did not have insurance details available as her partner was working away.

I had her address, car registration number, I then notified my insurance company about the accident.

They checked as did I, that she was insured.............they are insured.

It was a bit long winded in the way that my insurance company went about it, but by being a pain, I TOLD them that the car needed repairing one way or the other and that I was taking it to an approved garage. They soon got back to me stating as to where they wanted it repaired! You can choose YOUR OWN garage if you wish! but, in order to get it done I went along with them as it is guaranteed to be as new.

The upshot is this..............my repair is done and my excess has been returned. The money that I paid out for car hire and taxis (£399) that was needed is still outstanding. Solicitors are chasing that one, being paid for by my insurance..........I am confident that it will be paid, plus my no claims is intact. Yes I paid money out in this instance because we are not on a bus route, so I needed wheels for my wife.

Four years ago I had a similar whack in my E7 work related.

Quite simply as you are not to blame you get hold of Solicitors who specialise in taxi accidents.

They will sort out your Cab hire with any company that you get a cab from. They will sort out any damage to you i.e whiplash, loss of earnings, and anything else that you can think of........in that instance I never paid a penny out, and claimed for the couple of shifts that I did lose. Once again no loss of no claims.

I cannot understand your train of thought............unless you are NOT telling us the whole story.

if you have 9 years NCB it should be protected, and the accident wasnt your fault so you cant lose the NCB
