I would advice not to put your sat nav in the middle like that, one of my drivers got a fine for obstructing the view.

What information are you given on that screen that requires a 6" (or is it 7") screen that cannot be given on a screen the size of a PDA?

I cannot think of anything.

On that image what are the columns. I assume it is
1. Plot area
2. Free cars
3. Busy/loaded Cars (passing through area/due to drop of on area)?
4. Jobs waiting
5. ?
6. ?

My preference for a screen like that would be area, free cars, jobs waiting, jobs from area in last hour,jobs from area in previous hour. The last 2 would just be nice to see actually how busy an area has been.

All I need to know is if any jobs are waiting, the rest of it imo is all irrelevant except perhaps how many cars are waiting in an area for work.

Yeah that's right. The last two columns are jobs in the last hour, and then jobs that same time last week. The system works off GPS, whereas the old firm I was on worked off a plot basis.
Generally the set is connected to a suction mount on the windscreen, to the right.

Tbh a lot of it is irrelevant, most of the time you're on the cover screen, or looking at the stats across the city. I like it myself, it's nice to know and plan which end to work.

No other information is given except messages regarding RTAs, road closures, assistance req. for other drivers (panic alarms or car issues) and anything else the operator feels to spam you with.

same happend to a driver i know, got a 12 plate Peugeot partner tepee got the meter, datahead and radio fitted by a meter agent, but he installed the data head right above the instrument cluster and super glued it to the dash! when it went for its test if failed for an obstruction of the drivers view of the road, i have mine like this,

Super glue, I'd have something to say about and it certainly would not be ladylike in the slightest. I had enough to say when they fitted my radio to the passenger side foot well, idiots.

Well the superbs ain't that good for having meters and datahwds in them, no spaces in the dash to slot the meter in unlike the mk1 Octavia from which I came from, so where else's is the data head meant to go?, the wire running down the centre of the stereo is the power cable for the satnav, and the one running down the side of the dash is power for the datahead, all normal saloons aren't designed for taxi equipment and yes mine is not the neatest, but it works!

You just have to be careful, honestly I did not know till me driver showed me the slip that you was not allowed to put even your tom tom in the middle.

Datahead on the right hand side of the steering wheel near the windscreen and the meter in the middle above the air vents on a bracket which slots under the vent and the dash.

That looks a botch job.

Bracket for your meter which when modified will slip under the dash between the vent.

We have started installing the meters that are rear view mirrors as well. That way there are no unsightly brackets and dodgy looking fittings.

tried putting the data head in the driver side vent but it was hitting the door when you shut it, and we would to have screwed it into the right hand side of the dash which I would not do, I wouldn't call it botched it all works and I like the data head being in the middle as some passengers ask to see the screen to see if I am the taxi they phoned for

That must be a first.
