I have been emailing our council this morning. They say that they will still need to physically see your disclosure certificate every 3 years.

But that's no surprise because they are a shower of s***.

However all it will need you to do is to print off your latest up-to-date report.

LCC dont want to see a drivers DBS, or the "updates"

they DO want a copy/fax/email attachment of the full DBS report and then the updates annually

To summarise some of the key points:

Quote:
Only the applicant receives the disclosure certificate
We do not receive a copy of the disclosure certificate
We will need to see the original certificates and not a copy
You will need to bring the original certificate in for inspection OR
You must send it Recorded Delivery to ensure its safe arrival
This applies to all operators of Council contracts - regardless of whether you are intending to apply on to the Framework or not
All applicants with a trace on their disclosure will be treated in exactly the same way i.e. investigated / interviewed if necessary.

But after first issue they don't send any more certificates, so folks will have to send print outs.

I thought that was the whole point of the subscription service. You pay for the DBS and then subscribe, then you give the certificate number to anyone who requests a check, they log on and see everythings hunky-dory. No need for producing certificates or sending off copies etc. as it can all be done online.

Unless of course the authority wanting to see the check doesn't want to pay for access to the system

No, only the applicant (you) get the report, everyone else (LA's, County council, etc) have to get a copy from you (some will want the original)

the access online is just "any changes" (since the 1st report)

Ah, I thought once you'd applied online then anyone who asked could see the report online as well.

Which begs the question why not ? Surely it would be much simpler if once you've gone through the application you could just give the check number to those who require it and they could then see it online without you having to produce an actual certificate.

it would avoid delays and lost mail, the access could be 2 tier, 1 the full report and 2, just changes

no body you just apply to will ONLY want to see the updates...

Only the applicant gets the report and can see the report on-line.

What the authorities can see is if there is a change since they last saw the report.

Clearly if no change then they shouldn't need a new look, however if there is an amendment then they are entitled to ask to see an up-to-date report, and if one isn't offered up then act to withdraw the license until they see it.

unless the applicant gave the authority his full access and password

Not allowed.

Beyond council powers.
