Teenage boy demanded sex, says taxi driver


A TAXI driver claimed a teenager threatened to hurt himself unless he allowed him to perform a sex act, a court.

Bolton Crown Court heard Metro Cars driver Shahbaz Ahmed was waiting for his next fare in Thicketford Road, Tonge Moor, when a 15-year-old boy asked him for a lift.

Ahmed said he told the boy he needed to book through the office, but eventually agreed as he thought it was on his way home and he was finishing for the evening.

He told the court that the boy asked to be taken to Harwood Golf Club.

When they arrived Ahmed said the boy would not get out of the car as he wanted to talk to him about something.

The 35-year-old married father-of-three said: “He said ‘I want to commit suicide’. I was very shocked and I thought why.

“He said he could not find a boyfriend. I said I do not do that it is not very good.

“I said I am sorry I am married I am not like that.”

Ahmed told the court the boy pulled out a knife.

He said: “He said ‘I will cut myself and blame you if you do not do it and I will say you raped me’.”

Ahmed told the court the boy touched him and performed a sex act on him.

Wayne Jackson, defending, asked how he felt about it.

Ahmed replied: “I felt shocked.”

He was asked if he thought about leaving the scene.

Ahmed told the court he was too scared to drive off.

He said: “I thought if I ran away maybe he would cut himself and put the blame on me.“ He said after the incident the boy told him to take him to Breightmet and not to tell anyone about what happened.

The court heard earlier that the boy alleges he was raped by Ahmed.

Ahmed of Parkfield Road, Great Lever, denies rape.

The trial continues.

GUILTY: Minicab driver raped 15-year-old boy

A minicab driver faces jail after being convicted of picking up a teenage boy and raping him in his car.

It took a jury of eight men and four women just three and a half hours to unanimously find Shahbaz Ahmed guilty of raping the 15-year-old boy.

During a three day trial at Bolton Crown Court they had heard how the boy, who is now aged 16, was walking home along Thicketford Road, Tonge Moor in the early hours of July 13 last year after spending the evening with friends.

Metro Cars driver Ahmed was working that night when he spotted the teenager, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, and offered him a lift, telling the boy, “You shouldn’t be walking around at this time. It’s dangerous.”

The teenager told the court he thought the driver was just being kind, but after stopping briefly outside the boy’s home, Ahmed then drove to the car park at Harwood Golf Club.

There he forced the boy to perform a sex act on him. The teenager said he was too terrified to run away because he feared Ahmed would run him over with the car.

After the ordeal Ahmed, a 35-year-old married father-of-three, drove the boy home and the teenager told adults what had happened.

DNA from Ahmed was found on the boy and the taxi driver, of Parkfield Road, Great Lever, was arrested.

He admitted a sexual act had taken place, but claimed it was at the teenager’s instigation, adding that the boy had pulled out a knife and threatened to hurt himself if he did not take part.

Ahmed stood emotionless in the dock as the guilty verdict was read out and his defence counsel Wayne Jackson, requesting an adjournment until September 6 for reports to be prepared before sentence is passed, conceded: “A custodial sentence of some length will follow.”

Judge Timothy Stead told Ahmed: “The matter you have been found guilty of is a serious one. In all the circumstances you will be remanded in custody between now and September.”

Ahmed was also told he will be placed on the sex offenders register and is now barred from working with children and vulnerable adults.

That quote was in the original story, along with the boy also telling the driver that he had no money. Could it be that after getting the boy home, the driver asked for "payment in kind" and the boy was scared to say no!

ok the cabby isnt innocent but there is still more to it i think

like agreements being made and then not honoured maybe etc

perhaps the boy got chatty and ask about if cabby like men an then suggest they go somewhere an once dna is established he then goes to police to stitch cabby up

cabby defense wanted more time so there must be something in the statements that possibly prove cabby not the only one in the wrong

did his friends house not have a telephone to call home of a firm?

what were his friends parents doing at 3am?

did they not think to lend him some money to get home?

if it all happened as he said it did he had a harsh lesson but in that case all those that allowed him to be walking home at 3am are equally as guilty to contributing to his ordeal
