You take it to the people who want you checked.

They do their bit.

You do your bit.

It gets returned.

What is confusing about that?

Having a re look it appears those that want to check you should have the forms.

doesnt work like that does it? the applicant has to get the check then show the report to those who want to check you..

typical of HMG to fix something not broken

I'm not sure they are legit, as the employer/council aren't sent anything. You must show them.

Also only those jobs that need a check, as per the barred list, can be checked. How does this company know 100% the applicant is going for a specific job.

I think this firm has been caught out by the new regime.

It does work like that initially.

Someone has got to check that you are who you say you are, once that's done and you are on the system then what you say above is correct.

the employer/council wont get anything other than what the applicant gets and passes on, ive spoke to our LA and CC about that already

The applicant (driver/escort/etc) applies for the DBS check

THEY get the check back, then THEY have to send it to the council or prospective employer

as our LO said, the 1st DBS checks for badge renewals will cause problems if applicants dont understand the new system and think LA's will do the checks as per the CRB checks

Do us all a favour.

There's a number on the DBS site for questions.

Give them a ring on Monday and report back.

Registering as an organisation with DBS

To satisfy the conditions of registration you must:

submit more than 100 eligible DBS check applications per year
be entitled to ask exempted questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
comply with the code of practice
pay the appropriate fees in relation to applications for DBS checks, as well as registration of the organisation and countersignatories

You must also provide specific and up to date information to the DBS for registration to be granted. This includes:

organisation status
proposed countersignatories and lead countersignatory
the nature of your business
the positions of employment you intend to submit the checks for
how you intend to meet the threshold of 100 applications per year

Cost of registration

Registration costs £300, with a £5 cost for each countersignatory to be registered.

As far as I am aware, our council will be providing the form when a license is applied for or a renewal requiring a DBS is received.

There is no doubt in my mind, I'm 100% certain they don't know what they are doing.

well the wifes badge has expired and the new school runs start sept 3rd, if i quote and win an escorted run the CC and the DBS have but a very short time to get their collective sh1te together, some tenders are due in this coming week, some august 7th, they will sit on their hands before deciding who has won, then have to sort badges...
