What do people think of this offer? Anyone got one? Skoda are producing a special model of the Rapid called the 'e' that is specifically designed for taxi operators.

The car is based on the Rapid S 1.6 TDI CR DPF 105PS (five-gear manual) but with these changes:

Removed:
• Two-tone alarm
• Alarm with interior monitoring and remote central locking
• Electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors
• Swing radio

Added:
• Remote central locking
• Air conditioning
• Spare wheel
• Third rear headrest
• Blues radio

On-the-road price: £16,865

You are indeed correct. Purely just wanted some feedback to be honest of whether it is a desirable vehicle for taxi operators.

The Seat Torledo version is cheaper, comes with satnav and bluetooth

look great until you sit in the back of it,

certainly wouldn't get 3 passengers comfortably in the back of it.


fuel economy is supposed to be amazing though

my partner might be a bit Spartan and French but it was £10800 brand new on the road, or a 6 grand saving over a rapid ooft

There are more rapids than toledos up here, but I view the rapid as too small, it's a polo with a e long gated tailgate, nit very practical. But there was a skoda dealer in England dropping £4000 off rapids for taxi and ph drivers

The main problems skoda now have, they have increased the price by over a third on the Octavia, and you no longer get a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty, so potential owners are going to other brands.
Even the Superb prices have gone through the roof, when I first bought one the 1,9 130 tdi classic it was £14000, now they are over £20,000
I dont know what possessed them to bring out the rapid as it serves no purpose.

Skoda if they wanted could corner nearly the whole cab ph market, if they offered owners a Superb 2ltr tdi, hatch or estate for £14000 with built in bluetooth and sat nav, phone charging points and a meter slot, and easy wipe seats and taxi sign if required

And a Stewardess for Handing out coffee to the passengers served in Swarovsky diamond encrusted coffee goblets....

My local dealer told me that skoda wanted to get away from the image of them as taxi ph vehicles so put up the price and to make them more attractive to fleet and company car drivers

And lost untold potential sales by doing so

I've had 2 clients go out and buy a Skoda superb on the strength of enjoying the comfort of mine as fare paying passengers and others considering likewise about doing so for their next vehicle purchase.

I agree with the above.

When I had a Mondeo Titanium on lease when mine was off the road for repairs people were saying what a nice motor it was, one person even went and brought one because he liked them that much. He upgraded to the Titanium X model.

Why don't these car companies give the Taxi Trade motors to try for a year free of charge. People like to sit in a nice motor and if they like it they'll go out and buy one.

Because the trade isn't full of good folks like thee and me.

Some of the drivers I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

Latest scum-bag thinks it's a good thing to book dummy jobs on the firm's App booking facility, to get him nearer to first point. Maybe when he is second and a job is due.

And that c*** is still on the firm.
