I couldnt agree more and in todays "PC" world youd have thought county would have an obligation to check the escort gets the NMW

I have brought this very subject up at forum meetings at county hall. The answer was that they can't dictate how other businesses run their own affairs. They say that the escort may be a volunteer or the drivers wife. I said that if it was the drivers wife then they should be paid at least the minimum wage. See previous response.

hey, youd get it at that but would you want it...lol

bidding silly/low isnt allowed

I wouldn't do it for that but you said guess what the lowest bid will be and that's my guess. Surely you can bid as low or as silly as you like because it's guessing game :?

The results are in and the winning bid is £195 per journey. The winning bidder is a company based in Newark, Notts. So the round trip mileage is 400 miles and should take around 7 hours without any stops or hold ups.
So lets say 8 hours. the driver and escort get say minimum wage of around £6.00 per hour which makes £96.00 That leaves £99.00 for the running of the car. 25 pence a mile. =D> =D> =D> =D>

and if its a base passing the job to an owner, they wont get more than £165

400 miles a day @ 50mpg = 8 gallons or 36.5ltrs @£1.41 = £51.59/day fuel £144 left which, if the escort is the winners wife means £288 a week for a friday/sunday to pay insurance/tyres/servicing, etc.....

The job doesn't run every week. just at the start and end of each half term.
