My plate expires end of the month

Car passed its test last week, all paperwork+fee is in, so its three weeks before i need a new plate, wont the mileages overlap a bit?......

Why should the mileages overlap? Does it really matter?

shouldnt the PLATES run concurrent with the tests?....a few days may be inconsequential, but three weeks? with high useage it could need a retest

No, my test runs out about 4 weeks before the plates. That's what comes of booking the test early.

my compliance/plate test was also an MOT, this time next year my plate will have two weeks to run but my MOT will expire so id have to go in 2 weeks early again

compliance and MOT where the same thing here, compliance was scrapped in favor of the MOT as it was pointed out that we should all have an MOT cert just in case we sell the car, and that the compliance was exactly the same, but useless if the car was sold,

and 15 years ago i had it the other way round, they DID an MOT but ISSUED only a compliance certificate, deplating the car and we just asked for a print of the proper MOT....£10

Here it's an MOT plus an additional check of the bodywork and interior, but they only issue a compliance certificate - if you want the MOT cert it's an extra £4.

Why they can't just do the test and issue an MOT and then charge an extra £4 for the visual bodywork/interior part is beyond me. Even better have the MOT wherever I like and go to the LA for the condition check and pay them £4.

Alegidly its against the law not to have an MOT cert for any vehicle over 3 years old, and a compliance one is not exactly an MOT cert

Here we have two hackney tests a year and we still need an MOT done elsewhere.

A ph or hack can have an MoT exemption if the LA's registered to issue a compliance instead of an MoT like Shepway does. the problem come when you come to sell the car..as someone mentioned above.

Not such a big worry, the test still has to go on the VOSA database as an MOT, its just the printed MOT you dont get, if you sell the car and the test is long just ask for a reprint/MOT

What do you get with the compliance test? You must have something to show at the post office when you tax the car.
