Have not been posting on the forum for a few years now but I still read stuff with interest.
Anyway, The Metrocab TTT has been sold to a friend and I got a 2010 Euro 4 Vito. (170K miles fsh) from another friend.
I have only cover 500 miles so cannot speak about reliability yet. Fuel economy is pretty much the same as the old Metrocab, but the drive is so much more rewarding. It is more of a motorway tool and takes a bit off getting used to in the metropolis due to the extra width......I will put this down to a lack of confidence on my part. The Auto transmission is as smooth as silk, as are the brakes. Seating position& comfort works for me and is a mahoosive improvement upon my previous steed.
To be honest I am still getting used to all the buttons on the dashboard, the rear door opening & closing is taking a bit of getting used to for sure and the buzzers......OMG they are dam annoying. The intercom is okay on motorways and could be a bit louder but as Gbc states , it does pick up interference in town. Roof pods knock at speed, especially with a side wind.
I will be doing the servicing work myself to keep overheads down but there is so much electronic wizardry on the Vito that does not throw up codes on a normal fcr that no doubt I will have to visit Mercedes @ some stage. For example, I retrofitted a cruise control speed limiter but it can only be turned on using Mercedes Star software online!
The infamous RWS is as yet untested as the fuse is out, I am just gong to take a punt, present it @ NSL and hope for the best. I hear stories that even the latest Euro 5 RWS update is still causing the occasional problem, so I have no great faith in my Euro 4
The Nsl taxi test is due in 5 weeks so 4 x T rated tyres are required for sure.
