I think the point is that you should be disputing it.

It's already been mentioned by a couple of the drivers, and will be raised to la, but at the moment we are trying to sort out the weeks ban for smoking in our cabs and PH to a fine, and also to get rid of the ban of smoking in hacks and ph

So you will try to stop 1 ex-hack E7 getting 1 PH plate but wont dispute a hack cant carry 8 passengers despite almost all (if not ALL) of the rest of the UK allowing it?

Torfean LA

Quote:
Hackney Carriage Vehicle Specifications

The vehicle must be black in colour.
The vehicle must be fitted with four road wheels, have at least four doors and be right hand drive
Any new vehicles must be wheelchair accessible. Consult the Licensing Team for more information.
The vehicle must be a saloon, estate, M.P.V. or minibus with 8 passenger seats or less, and not be a large 4x4 type vehicle, e.g. Range Rover or Mitsubishi Shogun size vehicle. Smaller 4x4’s may be considered e.g. if they are derived from family saloon type vehicles.

Blaby (though I would contest a Transit 12 seater downsized to 8 passenger seats IS legal)

Quote:
a. All hackney carriage vehicles must meet the standards as specified by the
Council.

Vehicles shall have:
i. a minimum of 4 doors;
ii. have an engine capacity of more than 1300cc;
iii. be right hand drive only;
iv. not be a convertible;
v. have a seating capacity of between 4 and 8 passengers. Any vehicle
constructed or adapted to seat more than 8 passengers cannot be licensed
as a private hire vehicle.

It's not just about 1 ex hack, and we will be disputing why we can't have 7/8 seater. Our la is on a different planet to everybody else

Hang on, you said you didnt want 8 seaters cos there was no extra tariff for them...

We are not allowed to carry no more than 6. Unlike private are rate doesn't change if we have more than 4 pass unlike PH, we don't go on a different rate just cause its snowing unlike PH, everything we do is governed by the council unlike PH.

now your gonna contest the rule?

BTW, your rate CAN change if you leave the LA's area or out of hours...

To be honest I have got this 2nd hand that drivers have mentioned about 7/8 seaters. The extra rate doesn't interest me, can't speak for the rest of the trade. Me personal I don't charge for heavy items, eg tv, but that's my choice, bank holidays me and my husband choose to work rate 1 for our telephone customers, but that's our choice to do that, we have a good customer base, and it's just a way of giving a little something back. So the extra rate don't interest me

Have I got this right? You want your LA to allow smoking in hacks and PH? Even though they have no authority to do this because it is a national law. #-o

No. We want the la to change the punishment, as it stands at the moment it's
A weeks ban, we want it changed to a fine

Yeah lol. Seriously though, most neighbouring boroughs are 50/60 fine, reduced if paid within a time period, but are la think a weeks ban is a reasonable punishment.
