Perhaps the question should be asked as to why they appear to be relying on information collated by the National Private Hire Association - and why they are relying on information that is 6 years old?

Is yours one of them, Skippy? If so, feel free!

Has the National Taxi Association anything more up-to-date?

Not that I'm aware of - but providing you with 6 year old information supplied to them by a third party isn't exactly what you asked for.

How can we pin it down? I asked earlier in the thread, before the FOI went in for suggested wording. That was the closest we got.

Any other suggestions?

If you want a few examples - Durham is now a unitary authority it comprises of Durham (City), Easington, Sedgefield, Teesdale, Wear Valley, Derwentside, and Chester-Le-Street. Likewise with Shropshire - Cheshire West - Cheshire East - Cornwall.

It seems to me they couldn't be ar*ed to do any research and were far too polite to tell you that they didn't hold the information and you should write to each traffic area.....at best that would be the county councils, at worst it would be the individual licensing authorities.

As to why the NPHA did what they did back in 2007 - well its all part of their campaign - a campaign that a lot of HC drivers in Manchester , and London are opposed to, but nothing is said because the NHPA are currently campaigning the fees issue and raising funds for that........of course once PH enter bus lanes it ultimately leads to all licensed vehicles leaving them - a little like what Griffin doesn't give a sh*t about in London.

So, if we asked 'how many licensing authorities have been asked to provide info to DfT?' That would put them on the spot to reply but, would it motivate them to actually ask the question of the LAs?

When a friend of mine got the rape statistics he had to write to every police constabulary - I get the feeling you would have to do the same because I cannot see the DfT holding that type of information - I think in fairness they've tried to help you with figures they are aware of - but in terms of usefulness, they're a bit old now.
