So, the lack of income by cab drivers will also bring a sharp drop in cab drivers next year; it must follow that if there's a rise in domestic violence caused by cab drivers, the victims will report the crime, it will go on the driver's CRB check, and he won't get re-licenced for being violent. Simples. So domestic violence by ex-cabbies will increase...

Not everybody reports domestic violence to the police so it goes unreported. Questionnaires tell a different story CC is correct it took me 10 years to report it. With that in mind it was never about money it was only ever about control, absolute and complete control. Abusers do not need the help of the licence department unless the said licence department is going to put them into some rehabilitation programme. As I suggested to Charles earlier he would be far better helping said drivers to get the help they clearly need. Their pathetic excuses don't wash with me and never will.

So how do we know there's a rise in domestic violence if it goes unreported?

I would say much more is reported these days than was reported in the past.

But usually it takes many years of DV to get to a stage where the victim goes to the authorities.
