Taxi Driver Online

I don't know what to do about this one chaps and chapesses. Last night whilst waiting outside one of our local pubs I saw an incident that chilled me to the bone.
There was a large group of people who had obviously had a lot to drink and had been fighting. There were lots of police around and they had clearly arrested one chap and had him cuffed. The put him in the back of a police car and looked as though they were going to take him away. Then one of the policemen dragged him out of the car and put him on the floor and a couple of them pinned him down.
Now this is the bit I don't know what to do about. One of the policemen, who I couldn't identify, grabbed the chap by the hair and lifted his head about 12 inches from the ground and he then pushed the chaps head down to the ground with great force causing the chaps head to bleed. At this point a customer got in the car and I had to leave. When I got back, the police had loaded the chap into the back of a van and were taking him away.
Now bearing in mind that I can't identify the policeman concerned, What should I do? There is a CCTV camera above where the incident took place that usually monitors the area but it is controlled from the police station.

Oh dear.

I think if you have witnessed an assault then you need to report it no matter who committed it.

The alleged victim might well have deserved it, but then again he might not have.

The fact that you have mentioned this on TDO to me means you wish to report it, so I suggest you do.

Let the Police do their job, he's done something serious for the coppers to give him some afters like assaulted a woman, pervert we can only assume.

If you report it they'll close ranks and their statements will be like for like. You'll be a marked man round your town with the Police.

I have installed one of these vidio recorders that tape your forward view as you drive,on a loop collected on a card. very cheap £20 on Ebay but the point is I can turn it to record such incidents, so you would have proof. worth haveing for normal use drunks jumping infront of you and road accidents , but usefull to be able to collect your sort of incident. More each week in the early hours at weekends.

I would think we are both old school, morals etc. Today you see the same stuff out in the streets as I do, and quite frankly at times I wish there was a real life "Charles Bronson" (not to be confused with the locked up case) - a little bit of retribution/to a degree vigilantism is needed to put the fear of god back into them and get society back to what it was.

Ask yourself this.....How do you/I get ourselves into a situation whereby we have to be Handcuffed? and then make a copper want to smack me? The guy has to my mind, stepped out of line big time, and has been reminded to behave.

To a degree I would go along with Nidge2.....do not put your business in the spotlight!!!

P.S. I am waiting for "Chairman Trotsky" on this one

If someone is handcuffed then they offer no threat, it was extreme cowardice on behalf of the officer to act like he did.

Grandad, if you had been caught acting in a criminal manner, you would have been hauled up before the courts and stripped of your licence.

And you can be sure of one thing, Grandad. It's not the first time this cop has attacked someone who could not defend himself.

Oh and Sussex is correct, if you were not intending to report this incident, you shouldn't have stuck it up on TDO. If you don't report it now, you are the one committing the offence.

He was not kicking off at all. He was cuffed and doing nothing at the time. I can't comment on what he had done to get cuffed in the first place because he was already cuffed when I arrived. As far as I was concerned the policeman was using unreasonable force.

Was he wanted for something more serious like a mugging? sexual Assault? Robbery?

If he did something seriously wrong then he deserved some afters.

We had a old copper round our manor when we were young, if we did anything wrong like scrumping apples, riding bikes with no lights etc etc the copper used to line us all up against a wall and leather us with his stick.

I didn't dare tell my dad because I would've got some more and the old copper knew that.

Old school policing at it's best.

They're allowed to use it when arresting someone, even when someone is cuffed they can throw them about if they're acting the hard man.

I've seen situations where they've punched the person in the middle of the back when they're "on the floor cuffed."

I wouldn't do the their job for a golden pig.

Punishment is the role of the courts. Summary punishment by police officers is illegal.

lets get it straight Grandad witnessed a CRIMINAL ASSAULT that assault was carried by A POLICE OFFICER WITH OTHERS PRESENT

Not unusual behaviour these days is it!

Surely we, for sure I require honesty and integrity from our Police ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,sadly lacking it seems

Grandad says hes anxious about retribution should he report this occurrence....................which tells us more does is not about the Police?

So the question, is Grandad guilt of AIDING AND ABETTING THIS CRIME????????? OF A CRIMINAL ASSAULT BY NOT REPORTING IT??

IF SO DOES THAT RENDER HIM NOT FIT AND PROPER TO HOLD A HACK PH LICENSE
