The driver might have already been out 12/15 hours.

If so I applaud the fella for binning off the job.

Could may well be the case but, most Office's running a rota for long distance will offer the job to first on the list so, maybe other's before him declined the offer on that basis and, maybe he was just looking for a good old moan ?
