The hunt is on to find the best golfer in the taxi business.

Crown Golf, the UK’s largest golf course operator, is launching the Cabbies Cup on September 1 at the Hampton Court Palace golf course.

The Cabbies Cup will be open to all licensed taxi drivers. The 18-hole qualifying rounds will be played at 25 Crown Golf courses throughout September in London and the Home Counties.

The Cabbies Cup Final will be held at Crown Golf’s flagship Jack Nicklaus-designed course at St Mellion, Cornwall.

Twenty-five finalists and some ‘best losers’ will battle it out for the Cabbies Cup trophy over 36-holes and two days, Sunday Oct 2 and Monday Oct 3.

The winner will collect a cheque for £500* at a gala dinner at St Mellion. Five other top finalists will also receive cash prizes.

Crown Golf Sales and Marketing Director David Standing said: ‘We are very excited about this new competition and we are looking forward to welcoming cabbies to our clubs where we expect to see some excellent golf.’

‘This is an exciting time for Crown Golf and we are looking forward to the future development of our clubs from grass roots to professional levels.’

‘We are encouraging cabbies of all golfing levels to get their mates together and come down to their local course for a day of great golf.’

I can remember that when I first started playing I had lessons.
The Club Pro said to me. 'You have to hit the ball and get it ion the green where that post is sticking up'.
This I did. 'Well done' he said. As I got it on the green three feet from the hole.
'Now' He said, 'You have to get the ball in the hole'
I replied 'WHY DID YOU NOT TELL ME THIS THE FIRST TIME'?
