The quotes are coming in now for our fleet insurance. The cheapest so far is £994 per vehicle including tax. That is the first time we have had a quote under £1,000 per vehicle.

There has been a tightening of the bogus claims scam.

We have a non fault claim going through at the moment. My car was hit in the side by another car. Not really a problem, a cut and dry case. However, I asked my insurers to take care of everything and I got a re[placement vehicle the next day. The cost is £300 per day to the other party insurance. The accident was on August 21st. The garage doing the repairs told the insurance company that they started the repairs on September 3rd and they should be completed by September 19th. I got a call from my insurers on the 19 to tell me there was a delay because some more damage was found. I told them that the vehicle has a tracker fitted and the vehicle did not even go into the workshop until the 16th September which was more that likely the real reason for the delay. However they said that completion was now set for September 26th. The car left the workshop and was parked outside on the 23rd. I get a call on the 26th to say that the work would be finished on the 29th. I pointed out that the vehicle is sitting in their carpark and had been for 3 days. So on the 29th I get a call to say they had finished the work but they had to carry out safety checks so it would be Tuesday (yesterday) I said of course it will be, I will expect it next week sometime. Today they ring me to say that they don't understand the hold up but I should get it tomorrow. I told them the delay was easy to explain. IT IS A SIMPLE CASE OF THEM TAKING THE PI55!

Hah, My insurers rang me again today with an update on my car. Apparenytly there is a fault which means that they can't drive the car. They can start the car but as soon as they rev it up, it cuts out. I told the lady that the tracker showed that the vehicle has been moving around their yard. It was even moving whilst we were on the phone. She got the garage to ring me. The chap explained that there must be a problem with the tracker because it is impossible for the car to be moving because the wheels are not even on. I asked why? He said because they were being refurbished as we speak (alloys) I said that is interesting because on Monday all the repairs were completed and there was just safety checks to carry out. I finished the conversation saying "i will see the car sometime next week then."

The point is that they were lying. The vehicle was driving around. The alloys would have been done days ago.

The telematics ive looked at can show movement when there is none, its to do with the satellites changing, its not QUITE an accurate science, the gps switches from satellite to satellite to get a fix

Somehow you don't quite get it. Maybe it is because you just want to be awkward. The garage told the insurance company that all the repairs were completed on the 26th September. They just had to give the vehicle a safety check but when they spoke to me they were still fixing the wheels. They are lying to someone. The tracker shows that they drove the car a couple of miles up the road and back again about 5 minutes after I spoke to them, without wheels!

so go and collect it then, or ask to see it at least

and check the odometer - you did note it when they took it? a road test is a nice extra and so rare these days

VW Sharan. Very nice motor. Only problem I would say is that the rear doors are sliding doors and passengers had a problem closing them from the outside.

There'll always be that problem with sliding doors.
