The legislation has taken into account the emergence of Apps like Uber, all passenger carrying vehicles must adhere to the regulations of the LA of which they applying to operate within, including booking office regulations for App companies, they don't meet with the current just updated legislation, our trade will make sure our LA makes no exceptions, infact the last thing our LA needs is more cabs, reminder Skull, they have a Tram to pay for and hey they are looking to expand that.

A judicial review is expensive and can take a long time, you say they are working within the rules, not according to the ongoing court cases down London, if you have read what this company is all about then you know that anyone can drive for them, licenced or unlicensed, they don't care about anything other than their 20%.

Edinburghs taxi trade is ready, we already operate an App and with no requirement on signing up to register your Credit card details, a must if you sign up to Uber, customers won't do it when there is a reliable App that doesn't require it, I never use any service where I have to include my card details, our punters won't buy into that, the ones that do are stupid, it's also been documented that Uber check out what their customers buying habits are, could they be selling this info on :?:

Flower, Uber has got you and Dougie and more than just a few others seriously rattled, as you see yourselves as company men. #-o

However, you never know, Uber might only be interested in expanding Ph rather than targeting the Hack trade directly. You could be lucky, I wouldn't want to stake my life on it but stranger things have happened.

On the other hand, if Uber is looking to expand and see all taxi/Ph work as being up for grabs, it is almost certain to destabilise your trade. Forcing the likes of City and CRT to restructure and who knows, you might even get your merger in order to survive.

And failing that you could always sign up for Uber... =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Gary maybe one day you will wake up and realise what you are saying.
Yes they are a threat that is what business is all about, but they must adhere to guide lines like every business in the world without them we have total mayhem

Dougie, once again, Uber is a technology platform. They do not own or operate passenger carrying vehicles.

However, they are playing by the legislation which is being applied even though I think it is a stretch.

A judicial review costs buttons to a company like Uber and they could be in court in a matter of months. As for the legislation taking into account the emergence of apps, that is complete and utter bollocks. Dougie where the fu*k did you read that? #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

Edinburgh's taxi trade is a joke. #-o You see Dougie, that's the carrot. You sign up with Uber and they flash big discounts and free rides on to your phone a wee bit like a loyalty card for using their services. Oh and Dougie, if Uber decide to go to war with the taxi trade it will be a massacre. #-o      You have absolutely no way to fight back. What? Increase radio dues to discount fares to compete with Uber on their level, you are joking eh?

I know I will download there app and I am more than happy to accept their big discounts and free rides as a loyal customer. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Flower, you have this habit of making abstract and meaningless comments. What are you trying to say "guidelines, mayhem" wtf?

Flower, think of the Edinburgh taxi trade as being chewing-gum stuck to Uber's boot.   You are not a threat to Uber and City/CRT are run by bowling club committees. OMFG #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

Skull I'm not concerned or rattled by Uber, I just don't like its product, I don't believe they can offer Edinburgh anything extra, Uber needs much larger markets than Edinburgh, I know the Taxi App market in Edinburgh, I know how many jobs per month from my company, Im not disclosing but I'm saying it's too small for Uber to throw millions at it, they will lose, at best they will get some of the ECPH market initially and that's because of free fares, they'll struggle getting punters committing their card details to an App, they will only be allowed to use licenced taxi/cars and drivers, when there is demand on the street licenced hacks won't work an App, you should know this, unless being out of the trade your knowledge of the trade has clouded over, in my opinion Uber can throw loads at any market, some they'll win and some they'll lose, in Edinburgh they'll lose, I remember when Comcab came to town, I bought into the big corporate worldwide transport company, I joined up, what happened, they discounted the wise cabbies out of their company, they chased us away, they lost, where are they now with their 80 max taxis, only one half of the two big companies are ladened with big discounts but discounts are not a bad thing, it's the way the game is, it's how it works now, I'm happy im off the street and with a company that doesn't offer big discounts, we offer a great service and part of that service is a great App that our customers use and they trust us to deliver, trust me for the majority of our punters we do what is asked of us.

Uber arn't a threat there bubble will burst just like comcab, the pressure will soon be put on Uber to deliver profit, so far they're not and I can't see it coming anytime soon.

They'll soon be Ubbered

Dougie, for someone who is not worried about Uber you seem to be having meltdown.

As for comparing Uber to ComCabs that's just ridiculous. You might as well compare apples to onions by saying they are both round in shape therefore they must all taste the same. #-o

Nah Dougie, Uber is the way forward and apps are the future. It's companies such as city cabs that are redundant in the way they operate. Daft wee taxi drivers running a company by way of a committee and numpties voting once a year to pay hiked radio dues to buy work. You have got to be having a laugh? #-o #-o #-o #-o

Some of the biggest most successful companies in the world are Co-operatives, it's the way it's been in Edinburgh for a long time, we've took on and we'll take on, it's the way it is

None of these co-operatives are run by taxi drivers. Company shareholders hire professional businessmen and women who are paid huge salaries with performance related bonuses to run their company. They do not ask shareholders to pay money in advance each month to prop up the company and to buy work by way of discounts.

I'm not even sure what the above means "we've took on and we'll take on" are you suffering some sort of mental Uber breakdown, Dougie? #-o

I don't think there's is a punter anywhere in Niddry that's going to pass up on free taxi rides, when Uber hits Edinburgh.

Not even Dougie....
