I'll give apps like Uber five, perhaps ten years and what you will see is the demise of the traditional taxi radio company. No more daft wee committeemen running taxi companies or offices crammed with telephonists answering phones just an app on your phone - job done. =D> =D> =D> =D>

Oh and I think I am being generous with the timescale...

Happy New Year Gary.....still playing the same old tune....like the guy walking up and down Princes Street wearing a bill board saying " the end is nigh" lol ( he is right some day it will happen).

Maybe Uber will create a doggy app for you Gary....that will send you barking mad ...sorry lol

Aye flower there's nothing like having a good old laugh at the idiots of the Edinburgh taxi trade.   How the fuc* I ever ended up working with you lot can only be described as a cruel twist of fate. #-o

Oh and I can't take any credit fot predicting the Uber revolution but it's a laugh, never the less.

You will be Ubered ... resistance if futile...

Talking of doubling, I heard a fascinating stat the other day.

If you start with one grain of sand on the first square of a chessboard, and then double the amount for every subsequent square, there is not enough sand on this planet to fit on the last of the 64 squares.

Doing the sum with £1 is worth a go

On this strand

How many taps of your phone does it take to book a cab :?:

Dougie, don't tell me you are beginning to embrace the Uber revolution and the inevitability of your situation?

It looks like Dougie, Flower and Co. have already thrown in the towel . #-o =D> =D> =D> What will you do when you've not got that wee City or CRT badge adorning your sweater, how will you cope?

I suppose you could opt for the Uber barcode being tattooed on your forehead that way, you wouldn't even have to sign on, you'd just be scanned.

Ah the joys ...

There is no towel to throw in Gary, I will not bother myself with a [edited by admin] stirrer.( don't mind the banter)
I watched you years ago Gary and you were like the rest of them "lambs to the slaughter"
I dare say the internet with its forum has given you your soap box.

You never watched me years ago, as I was never a part of the bewildered herd and that my dear chap you know to be true. :-| Did I just roll over and take it up the ar*e from the Cab Inspector or the Council? [-X Not one bit of it. [-X And what about your committees, remember CRT vs Thomson & Taylor? Those were the days...   Oh and a lot of guys did end up winning their plates on the back of our actions and with our assistance. =D> =D> =D>

However, you are correct about my internet soap box. Only now I use it for my own amusement in ridiculing the sheeple that call themselves the Edinburgh Taxi Trade. There is without a shadow of a doubt a certain satisfaction in saying ... I told you so ...

You know driving a taxi is not a job I would wish on my worst enemy. I wonder how the fu*k I ever ended up in the taxi trade in the first place. It was like working with a bunch of window lickers. #-o Deary me, I look back now and wonder about life and for the most part, it really is just a game of chance...

You can't tell me, I did something so bad in a past life, that I deserved twenty odd years in the Taxi Trade? #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

Flower, you know when I finally realised that taxi drivers were every bit as dumb as anyone could imagine. #-o It was when CRT took Jim and me to court and shortly thereafter, shelled out over seven grand to yours truly. #-o And then, CRT’s members went to their AGM and voted for Murray and he’s still on the committee today. #-o Then it was the so called merger between City Cabs and CRT, like the committees of both camps were ever going to let that happen. #-o And then to top it all off, City Cabs snatch the airport right out from underneath CRT's nose and start working for ECPH. #-o I mean really, you couldn’t make this sort of shi* up. #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

Nah Flower, you have to be a special kind of dumb to become a cabby. #-o #-o I was just unlucky. A quirk of fate one might say.
