Female taxi driver assault in St Leonards


A female taxi driver was assaulted on January 12

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a 42-year-old taxi driver who was attacked in West Hill Road, St Leonards on Monday 12 January at 4pm.

A woman drove a passenger from Havelock road in her taxi to West Hill Road around 4pm.

The passenger refused to pay the fare which resulted in the two arguing and the street at which time the female taxi driver was pushed and fell, bruising her shoulder. The man subsequently paid the fare when a member of the public came to help her.

The suspect is described as a white man, aged 60, 5' and of skinny build with grey hair and a bald crown. He was wearing a blue casual zip up jacket with brown or blue trousers and white and blue trainers.

Sergeant Rebecca Ostach said: "Please get in touch if you recognise the suspect or if you saw anything that could help us with our investigation. We would particularly like to speak to the man who was passing by and helped the woman after she was attacked."
