Im glad to say I was never a "scab" (as some put it), I had left before the disaster of 1984

I did work in the previous dispute (1975) but only as an apprentice craftsman, not on production.

So there

HOWEVER, given the chance, i would have worked through the 5hithead-led kamikazi event of 84/85

This was a idiotic as Napoleon and/or Hitler attacking Russia in winter and had the same result

Apprentices could not strike. Well they couldn't at British Leyland in the 1970s.

Ha ha he's a fuckin deluded wanker, :D He calls me a scab for being on strike      I might pop down to where he lives one day and tell him the difference between someone who works and someone who doesn't.

I've never seen him at the Taxi Demos I've been to, he wasn't at Watford, he wasn't at the Houses of Parliament either when the deregulation bill came out.

He's busy sucking Liam Griffins man stick.

are YOU offering to go and dig it out or have a pit in your back garden?

I'm sure there would be plenty of young lads that'd would enjoy the opportunity to become miners, we could burn coal Day in and Day out in the UK and it's environmental C02 impact on the world would be about the same as that of flee farting on a fechin Chinese Coal bink.

Thatcher closed the pits. Scargill was the only one to speak the truth during the miners strike when he said that was thatcher's intention.

We now sit on loads of coal and have to import it from Russia and other eastern places, and it's inferior quality to what we could produce. If any of you have tried firing a steam loco, you'll know what I mean.

"Peep" said Thomas.

If it brought jobs and money into the area I'm sure many of us would...Except maybe for the retired affluent Nimby types who think just because they've cut it in life that WE the rest of us have no right to try and do likewise in these impoverished times.

The Modern open cast mines are not all that obvious, hidden behind landscaped bankings they are less obtrusive then many industrial sites are, and once they are no longer required they will be landscaped and returned to nature for wildlife to colonise.

Wouldn't bother me one bit, it's the tree huggers who get sand in their fannies when you mention coal and opencast.

I wouldnt mind comments about the mining industry if they were from someone who had ever WORKED down a 600ft hole in the ground, not some mamby pamby print setter whose only risky job was spilling hot tea on themselves - miners never had hot tea at breaks, it was water and a sarnie...and some chewwing baccy and snuff till tea time
