Load up with apps and free yourself from the yoke of the radio companies and their £300++++ rentals by working to promote apps like GET TAXI? =D> =D> =D> =D>

Or

Protect the radio company and the owners stipend by staying loyal to Massa like a good little Cab*igger ? #-o #-o #-o #-o

Sad news Artur. Stina is no longer with us. She succumbed to a poor oxygen supply while scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef. The Stockholm Gang are still going strong and are asking for you my friend. They still laugh thinking of the night on the Seven Fathoms Rum. That was a night to remember.
I'm not sure I could walk the 18 Artur, the old legs are becoming more and more unreliable. I think your still owe me 200 Gildas from our last foray.
It was rather predictable that Skull would still be using this vehicle as his only way of keeping an interest in the taxi trade, and an outside one at that. There is no threat from Uber or Get Taxi as long as the drivers/owners provide a first class service. That remains the hardest part of the business. It's the threat from within that is the biggest problem.

There seems to be a few anti the establishment venting they're views as usual. I would much prefer them to leave the company if they are so unhappy than blight on about Bully Boy tactics.

As for PR. Trying to understand his ramblings are like trying to solve the Rubicks Cube.

Artur. See you in the Cayman's in June.

That is very tragic news but at least she passed away doing something she loved. Costner as she was known to friends after that classic 1995 film Waterworld will be sadly missed. How is Olaf holding up?

Maybe we should cheer him up with a trip to Prague and a weekend on the Slivovice and Becherovka. Though no midgets this time.

Regarding the golf I'm sure you'd be able to manage if we got a golf cart. That Cayman air will breathe new life into those old legs.

The furore with the introduction of Getaxi and Uber is predictable. Their operation has the reek of an 80's kitchen fitting firm that promised the world but failed to deliver.

Friends in the city say Uber is so overvalued that to justify its share price it's moving into delivering pizzas. I know some my say Shaddap you face but it's true....http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2 ... e-ubereats

One last memory of Stina....do you remember the first trip the Stockholm crew made to the Roskilde festival?? Storming the stage to end green days set after I told her they were a hibs tribute band. All that and she didn't even like football. Stina always knew right from wrong though.

Oh Artur, some moving tributes to say the least. Olaf had a chuckle to the Costner tribute after the film Waterworld. He says to tell you it was more likely after "Dances with Wolves" as she would have blended in with a pack of hounds. The trip to Prague was an experience never to be forgotten. I remember the Midgets Kev & Tone getting us into some real trouble, but on the whole they were gems. As for Green Day, Stina always had your back Artur.

The whole Uber App fiasco seems to have the natives up in arms. Skull talking shi&e as usual and this TRTD has a "real" b in his bunnet. Your right Artur, customer service will be the deciding factor in the end. I would think that the business practices of a certain discounting radio company has done more damage to the Edinburgh Taxi Trade than Uber or Get Taxi will.
The golf cart is the way ahead Artur. Do you remember the last time we played 18 holes?

Your views are always a breath of fresh air Artur.

Kaiser you have no idea what comfort it is to hear that Olaf is laughing. Stina would have wanted us to stay strong.

I like what you did with the insignificant midget names but fear not Mrs Artur knows the truth. Everyone should experiment is her motto. It seems its not only Stina that has my back. The natives do seem to be restless Kaiser, if only they had the wisdom of experience on their side.

The discounting has led our trade down a path i'm not sure we'll recover from. I only hope that great customer service is valued over saving a few quid.

Of course i remember the last time, we played the Claw at USF in Tampa. We were invited to play a four ball with the Vice President of Masonite International Corp and his driver. That was a lovely course though the round was somewhat ruined by his red baw face driver. All that kit and you can't hit for sh$t. That restaurant Kurdi's Grill was fantastic for some Mediterranean fair in a casual setting. Though i do wish i hadn't taken the credit card to Deja Vu Showgirls.

I appreciate your kind words Kaiser at this difficult time.

The choice will always be with the owner he/she either pays radio dues each month plus permit and barrier fees if with city , slush fund if with central . If he / she uses an app the only dues are the percentage to the supplier unlike credit cards the percentage is added on and you receive the full fare. Now if you count all the discounts applied to company cabs ie ; no call out , permit fee ,barrier charges and slush fund which is the better option app or radio company . Maybe Private Reggie or Les could answer as they both think differently to others , on the plus side of things no joining fee and no ego's to deal with .

still no reply to my earlier posts private reggie......... it would be nice if points were actually answered as I did with your post, point by point and relevant if not agreed content.
Nice if you could tear yourself away from silly youtube videos and act in the same fashion. You will find with me I am not interested in silly name calling, just actually debating in a courteous way the slowly dying and once proud Edinburgh Hackney Trade.

So if all the drivers sign up to GET TAXI, UBER etc. and City Cabs and CRT go down the the plughole. They will be free from the yoke of the radio company and it will simply be a case of hiring a street cab at a greatly reduced rental. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

I don't think it gets much better than that... =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

As a radio worker within Edinburgh's Premier Taxi Company my monthly statement shows that I pay less than 10% commission on each job. I do admit that I am a radio worker so the present system benefits me.
I do not charge the exaggerated rentals that are being quoted either.

The taxi trade is a noble trade with over 3,500 licence holders, characters from all walks of life, providing an excellent service. The taxi trade is like any other trade in that you get out of it what you are prepared to put in. Again, like all other trades, it has become very competitive. There are very few cosy corners to settle into to make living, the airport being an example, being competitive doesn't suit everyone.
I can understand anyone forming a different opinion based on the contributions put forward on this site but if you take a look at the back posts you will see the negativity comes from only a few licence holders and the vast majority of negativity coming from one non licence holder.
You just need one or two disenfranchised licence holders to take up a pseudonym on this site and the bitterness then flows. This is not a true reflection of the Edinburgh taxi trade.

Les, this Parallel Universe you seem to occupy is obviously for the preserve of committeemen lining their own pockets. You do remember the Waverley and Airport contracts, along with your counterparts at CRT trying to buy up the toon with their members radio dues?

Hardly the actions of people representing their trades best interests, more like a bunch of greedy egotistical little men sewing division to keep themselves in a job??? #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

10,040 posts and counting.

Your observation could not be further from the truth but it will, no doubt,be well received on here.
The parallel universe I exist in is just called "hard graft".

Les, if you want to talk about what you really should be doing, when faced with the reality of multi-national corporations moving into your market, it goes something like this:

The committees of both City Cabs and CRT should resign with the view to installing a caretaker committee from the body of each membership to work jointly with one purpose in mind. To create a single company operated by skilled businessmen and not daft wee taxi drivers.

The only thing a committee should be dealing with is the welfare of its members and acting as go-betweens to keep everyone up to speed on their company's performance and how it is being run.

Oh and Les, you and the other monkeys on these committees should stick to what you know best, driving your taxis. :-|

A thousand members with one office run by skilled businessmen promoting a single app. =D> =D> =D> It's your only chance. =D> =D> =D> Oh and even then these multi-nationals might crush you under foot. It just depends on how much money they wish to throw at the problem. :-|

So Les, save your bullshi* for the morons that pay your salary. #-o

10,041 and counting =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>
