What for you is the problem with the Taxi trade using apps for work?

What does your radio company give you that apps can't?

And

Hypothetically if apps were to make radios obsolete what kind of app would you work with.

You ask the problem of using apps for work. Well as PR answered we've had our own app at City Cabs for 3 years so there's no problem with technology here. The problem is the acceptance of just giving into large corporations if they flex their muscles. It makes me chuckle Skull and his made up taxi ride the other day when the cabbie apparently told him he wasn't happy with the tarrif 4 change which I understand hasn't even gone through yet. But can you imagine the outrage when Getaxi or Uber are hypothetically here and start slashing fares by 30-40%. Les's fault....no wait.

Getaxi have been in London 3 years and have a market share of around 15%. For them they'll have their own problems if they can't offer cheaper alternatives of transport for their customers.

You ask what can apps give you that the radio doesn't? We have both but this wasn't good enough an answer. The only difference Uber or Getaxi are making to the trade is eventually having us all working for less. Their only gimmick into the market is offering cheaper fares.

The apps only succeed if us the drivers offer the availability to the customer. If the cabs are busy you can tap away all you want you'll still have to wait or hail a cab. This belief that these apps will solve the problems of the world are well....hypothetical.

Artur your spoiling the game don't you like the thrill of the chase , Kaizer Soze the love that is being directed from yourself and Les against one member shows the levels to which some will stoop ie: " the letter " "drivers" "intimidation " most of us know who you mean but again my friends you are going down the wrong " fairway " so to speak your loose tongue in the clubhouse will result in your own downfall , I will continue to do what I want safe in the knowledge that your on the wrong " course ".

And all of this coming from someone who obviously hasn't used the Get Taxi app. Artur do me a favour and try it? I don't know why anyone would continue to phone a radio company or stand around on a street corner hoping to hail a cab. These apps are still in their infancy and if GET TAXI take 15% of your share of the market in the next three years, City Cabs and CRT are finished. Oh and there is still UBER? These apps have only been on the go for 5 years and they are now global.

The FACT is, your cooperatives only have one answer to everything and that is to put up radio dues and to buy the work. #-o #-o #-o #-o

Good morning,

Don't you understand why members would be upset with another member using Getaxi?

TRTD there are endless articles of owners and drivers upset at the price reductions that come after being promised so much. Now i don't believe you have the app but if you do and it works for you and you leave City Cabs or Central and move on and become happier then who's to deny you that.

Do you just copy and paste Skull? have you got these rants backed up in files?

Getaxi have struggled to sign up the requisite cabs a fact you're struggling to come to terms with.

With Uber they'll throw everything at it no doubt but wait till the public gets introduced to its 'surge policy'.

Skull the London market is 10 times bigger than Edinburgh, in my book transferring Get Taxi 's share of the Edinburgh market will be 1.5%

I'm not going to support profiteering at my expense, I'd rather support jobs not lose them to an office operation of 3, Uber and Get taxi are profiteers, they don't care about the individual, we actually do Skull, staff and customer, again check out Uber and Get Taxi's T&Cs, they don't give a monkey's

Did you put your pipe down while working that out? Elementary indeed. You could possibly now help the Malaysian government to locate their missing plane.

Interesting article regarding Über I thought some of you may be interested in. I'm not on best form today, you could say I'm feeling a bit "under par"

Hope your ok Artur?

Reggie you are a headcase!!

London might be 10 times the size of Edinburgh but that is irrelevant. #-o

If you lose 15% of your market share over the next 3 years, City Cabs and CRT are finished. These cooperatives have single stock response to any ingress on their market and that is to put up radio dues and to buy work. #-o #-o #-o You can't loose 15% of your market against a backdrop higher charges and operational costs and continue to function. It's a downward spiral. #-o

Oh and don't you think that Uber and GET TAXI already know this? They will have an analysis of the Edinburgh market and they will know where the tipping point lies for City and CRT. =D> =D> =D>

And what is more Reggie, you have to consider the public appetite for this kind of technology, which over at least the next 5 years, is set to snowball. #-o #-o #-o #-o

You also have to consider public appetite for the sharing of their data/personal Details etc, one way of ensuring App punters know exactly what they are getting in to is highlighting Uber & Get Taxi's T&Cs, simply just signing up to either allows both the freedom to share everything about you and to as many third parties as they like, this currently happens with your E-mail server, the money is not made by these companies on cab rides, it's made on your data/habits, it comes from advertising revenue, the cost of the cab journey is sacrificed, your details/data is worth a hell of a lot more, that is the big FACT

You did sign up didn't you

Soon they will know everything about you

Skull Mabus is at work

LOAD OF SH*T!!!

Dougie you are making things up!! These app companies have only taken 5 years to become a global phenomenon. They are the future. Oh and as for handing over information, I do it on ebay all the time. I bought stuff on ebay the other day and paid for it directly from my mobile phone, now why wouldn't I do the same when hiring a cab? #-o #-o #-o

You are talking sh*t Dougie!! #-o #-o #-o

Dougie, your digital footprint is monitored and collated by the government. Nothing is secret. And if you want to avoid leaving a digital footprint you have to go low tech, like the use of carrier pigeons, smoke signals and the like. #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

The fact is, unless you want to fall off the grid altogether, you are your data. #-o

So no more stupid comments and videos, thank you very much, that's not going to stop UBER or GET TAXI taking a chunk out of your companies ass. #-o #-o #-o #-o
