Still crunching the numbers wondering if I can afford an extra £300 a month. Everyone keeps telling me 'it's only an extra £10 a day - you'll easily make up that, just do an extra hour'. If it was that easy to make an extra £70 a week I'd already be doing it !

Uh Huh...it is only £10.00 a day, but thats each and every day, good or bad, holiday or no holiday and probably for 5 years.

Is it HP? HP's good because after you've paid 50% of the Vehicles total purchase price by either repayments, deposit or trade in value or a combination of all three you can hand it back and walk away with no more to pay. If you hand it back before the 50% mark is reached they can only ask you to pay whats owed up that 50% of the vehicle cost..You don't get that Luxury with a Bank loan, business loan or any other Buyer type schemes..

So, If you get HP take it as you might get fed up of the car sooner than you think.

3 out of 5 mean sweet f*** all, different banks use different criteria.

What really matters is how many missed payments and/or CCJs you have, or how many times you have been refused credit.

For what it's worth if you are doing the crunching now, then maybe you can't afford it.

Noddles on the Make, they say "You Bad" and if you subscribe to their scheme you'll miraculously improve your credit rating..but only after you cross their palm with silver. So your present 3/5 is probably good.

Never had a bad Debt in my life, paid every bill on time, Own my own home outright..I should be 5/5..but nope..3/5 as well if i recall, so dont worrry about it.

Exactly the same as yourself re bills and house.

I did an Experian check on myself who (I think) use a rating of 780 pts being the top, (don't ask why re the 780) and I got 768 pts, meaning that I fell into the top 16/17% of the country! When I enquired as to why only 768 pts I was told that I did not get tops because I was not a millionaire..........ok.....fair enough

Half the time if you want to borrow.....the car/cab trade will find a way around it for you......and for them to charge hefty interest rates :(

Take a look at your current fuel cost per mile

My 03 Metro TTT auto was just over 30P a mile around town, my E7 Auto is just over 20P per mile, saving 10p per mile, £10 per 100 mile, £15 per 150 mile, depending on my days journeys I can save a little more, hope this is of Help :D

Looks like it'll nearly pay for itself ! :D
Currently paying £80 a week for fuel, a new auris hybrid brings that down to £50 (according to the p/pm existing owners tell me). Cost of the car is £70 per week so the fuel saving means I only need to find an extra £40 per week. Happy days :P

My E7 was free basing it on the minimum saving of £12 a day fuel times 30 equals £360 per month, then I quit smoking for Vaping, I was £12 a day on Ciggies times 30 equals another £360 per month, total saving per month and minimum was £720, full finance over 5 years small deposit is £590, simple arithmetic :D

Don't take any notice of the MPG figures, they're done in a laboratory with the minimum of weight in the car, the car is stripped of everything including the dashboard seats spare wheel carpets etc etc.

Agree Nidge, I prefer per mile based on my day's mileage, on different days my fuel cost can be different depending on the jobs I do, 100 mile one day can cost £21 but on another it could be as low as £17, I never wanted to understand this MPG crap

The figures are from drivers I know who were putting in 15-20p per mile in mondeos and skodas and are now putting in 10p per mile in the hybrids at the end of their shift. Every one of them says its halved their fuel costs.

WTF are they driving, V8 Mondeos? 20p a mile is about 20mpg!

even my 42mpg Chevvy/Daewoo runs at 12p/mile

BTW, even the variation between 15p and 20p a mile is way off in real terms

My sister got a brand new motor last year, they were touting it out to do 60MPG and 45MPG urban, she got 35MPG urban and 51MPG on the motorway. She went back to the dealership who said, you have to take it up with Volvo they do the tests.

It's false advertising IMO.
