It is the time of year when our fleet insurance is due for renewal. i received our fleet claims experience yesterday. Today I ring Tradex because I have seen them mentioned on here a few times. They are unable to give me a quote because my current insurer has already asked them for a quote so they can't quote directly. So it seems that I will never be able to get a quote directly because I need my claims experience before they can quote and the broker won't send it out until they have asked people like Tradex. Marvelous!

Days of dealing with a broker are done. Save yourself some £££££ by going direct.

That is the point, I can't go direct because last years broker has already asked them for a quote which stops me from going direct. They can't quote if they have been contacted by a broker.

So they won't give you a quote because your broker has been in touch with them and asked them for a quote? I'd move from that broker and go direct, can't you get someone to phone up and ask them for a quote and not let on who you are?

The can't quote because they have been contacted by a broker. You have to send in your claims experience to get the quote. The claims experience has all our details on.

Whenever I was ringing around for quotes, if they ever asked me who I was currently insured with I used to say I could t remember, that way they would quote me. I know that wouldn't work with your fleet policy Grandad but it's worth other people bearing it in mind. I know someone who went direct to tradex a few years ago and was quoted £80 cheaper than through the broker for the same policy. When tradex refused to honour the quote ( after finding out the quote was with them, via the broker) he threatened to take his business elsewhere and miraculously the broker reduced his quote by £80 !

If I am trying to spend many thousands of pounds with someone I expect them to do the running. If they don't ring back when I want to spend I don't want to be with them if I have a problem because they sure as hell wont ring back then.

Have you tried Cowens in Mansfield? They do quite a few Taxis and fleets.
