They state that as the vehicle is classed and licensed as a disabled access vehicle and the policy states :-All equipment must be maintained in good working order and be available for use at all times

You don't know how lucky you are... :D

The policy states that for passengers in a wheelchair all equipment must be maintained in good working order and be available for use at all times.
The Disabled access Metrocab does not have a fitted step and the Ford Tourneo disabled access private hire vehicle in the town does not have a fitted step. They both use the same step that this driver has been using for over a year.

Remove any remnants of the step, take it for the test, see what happens. If they fail it when others have passed you have a case.
Chances are the testing station will not have a clue and pass it.

What is the position regarding a side step on an E7?
The situation is this. Over a year ago an owner driver apparently hit something in the road late at night. It was only in the morning that he noticed that the side step on his E7 was very badly damaged, in fact it was beyond repair so he took it to a garage and had it removed. Now he still has the ramp that is fully functional and he has bought a caravan step to assist passengers should they require it.
Yesterday he was called into the Council and informed that unless he re-instated the side step within 28 days his vehicle license would be revoked because the vehicle no longer suitable as a vehicle with disabled access.
He has not yet received his letter giving the details of how this has breached the licensing conditions but I will update when it arrives.
Any thoughts?
