Fife taxi fares won’t rise in 2016, says councillor

TAXI fares in Fife are set to stay the same for the next year after councillors decided there should be no hike in prices.

Associations previously commented that it was essential for them to obtain an increase in fares on an annual basis to allow them to keep up their ever-increasing costs.

However, the Taxi Fare Scale Review subcommittee took into consideration factors such as the costs of running a taxi business, drivers’ wages, car running costs, maintenance and the costs of fuel and insurance, and ultimately decided that there should be no increase in fares for the 12 months from December 7, 2015.

Committee member Councillor Bob Young told the Press that the reason behind their decision was simple and said: “The price of fuel has dropped by £1 per gallon so where was the justification for putting the fares up?”

wonder if the councillor can tell me if car parts, insurance, licensing costs will increase and while he's using that crystal ball, if I'll have any luck on the lottery?

They don't look at the longer picture, they only look at the fuel costs.
