Knowledge is everything about the trade, many cabbies can give very accurate estimates based on exactly that, Knowledge.

Many punters also know roughly how much there fare should cost them.

It's like Uber types are de-humanising our trade

Which trade is that, the taxi trade or ph trade. I ask because prior to über there was a definite distinction between the two. You're right about one thing and that is customers generally know how much a fare is, so when hit with an über fare prior to accepting it they know exactly what they are doing

I could argue that the Uber punter is entrapped in the moment when assessing the cost and what happens if the Uber driver takes a wrong turning and adds distance and time to the journey, what opt out does the punter have in that situation, can they phone Uber and complain whilst travelling, I say the current system works just fine.

Hopefully once bitten twice shy

Our trade knows what we need to do and that's supplying demand with a reliable service and at a cost that's affordable, I'm also saying our trade nationwide should lobby to get price surging banned, pricing should be regulated.

I think you need to look at the bigger picture and then think about how your plans to regulate prices for a private company that has to be pre booked is going to work. When you have finished with that can you start a campaign to regulate the cost of everything we pay for from private companies please cos I could do with a holiday but I like to shop at M & S
