A base that does underpriced fixed fares (not worried cos they dont lose out)

Went to a caravan park, down a lane, in the countryside, to find the couple had a ton of luggage, took 20 minutes to load it while the woman stood moaning "we asked for a big car" (what the feck is a Superb estate?) but it went in, i put the meter on with the extras (20p/bag over 2)....

At the drop I again helped, the meter read £12.50, I said "lets call it a tenner"

She almost had a seizure "we paid £8.50 last twice, Im ringing your base to complain"!!!!

after another 10 minutes i just gave up, we were busy and i was losing money, took the £8.50.....no tip

The funny thing was I had them again later (no luggage) took em a mile across town and charged them a fiver....not a word was said...

Should have told the base that you are not there to lose money.....and neither do you do removals.

As an aside what do drivers think is reasonable in terms of luggage/baggage - not suitcases as such, more like when some bint who once turned up at a rank with the store trolley, full to the brim with 16/18 plastic bags shopping. I had a London cab at the time, unfortunately they have no boot space. I turned her down on safety grounds i.e in the event of an accident, the (would be all over the floor shopping contents), would hinder passengers getting out. Tbh I could not be ar$ed as she was one of those that would stand back and watch you load the lot, and the same at the other end in reverse, with not so much as a thank you/tip. As sly says.....fug um.

I know none of them would wanna pay the £3.60 flag plus 20p/bag "over 2" and 20p/person "over 2" when theres 2 adults, 2 kids and 20 bags of shopping on a 1 mile ride

That price list is dated 2010..

given there are so few PHV in town, and the few that are about AND on a base could have a meter fitted i cant understand why a simple discount off meter fares (or a loyalty card) wouldnt suffice, my last job yesterday woulda been a £4 fixed fare special, it clocked £8.50 and the guy gave me a tenner....

tbh if they book you from the "office" on a set fare no problem, if the got you from the rank like you said, i would charge whats on the meter , if they didn't pay i would call the police & wait with the meter running  , they wouldn't have got there luggage until they paid in my taxi tbh, still, each to there own i suppose
