Hi all,
I've only been in the taxi trade for a year. I work as a private hire driver. The other day I saw a notice in the office asking drivers to pay in £20 each so office staff can have Christmas bonus! Saying that we get jobs because of them. (I thought it was the customer!:P) And last year not many drivers paid and it was naughty! :) I have never heard anything like this! I am self employed. Shouldn't the office pay their own staff???
I might be wrong and it's a well known tradition!
Anyone heard anything similar?

years ago we used to have to pay saturday night board operators a £5 per car to top up their wages but sounds like a greedy plate baron wanting to keep all the profits for him/herself

Tell him to fuck himself. If you wan to buy the office staff something a £5 tub of roses will do them. Do you ask them for money when it's shit and your sat around doing nothing and they're on more than you?

Thats ridiculous. Greedy [edited by admin] should be paying their own staff. Unbelievable cheek to even ask! How much do they cream each week in radio rent?

After sitting in another cat chatting to the owner and hearing a base op ring him about a good job the next morning for him I think they must already be getting extras from some...

Why doesn't the fella just up the weekly rent for the rest of the year by a £1?

Then he can pay his staff a proper wage for working Xmas without pi**ing off the drivers.

I was at an outfit who tried this and our response was ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,we are all taking christmas off ie 24th 25th 26th Decenber now this outfit had contracts with Private hospitals which needed their staff transported over the hols

We wernt taking Christmas off we just lined up other outfits who needed Drivers :D

Surprise surprise our Owner after some negotiation agreed RENT FREE CHRISTMAS FOR ALL DRIVERS HELPING OUT WITH ACCOUNT WORK

That put the [edited by admin] in his place and gained us the Drivers a nice little bonus for it had been the practice to pay 50% extra rent over the Christmas so this morons greed cost him a bundle and taught the drivers the value of sticking together
