Singer 'kicked out of Uber car by driver at 6am after questioning his route'

The Irish singer said she was left afraid for her safety as she was in a part of town where an alleged rape had been reported recently

A singer claims she was left fearing for her safety after being dumped in the middle of nowhere after a row with her Uber driver.

Maighread Neligan says she was kicked out the car at 6am on Saturday after she argued about the route back to her home in Dalston in east London.

The Irish singer said she was left afraid for her safety as she was in a part of town where an alleged rape had been reported recently.

She complained to Uber, saying she did not believe the driver should be allowed to work if he had such a casual attitude to the safety of his customers.

She tweeted: "@Uber you're [sic] driver dumped me on a street alone at 6am because I questioned his route."

She told Uber: "I have concerns about that driver. I don't think that driver should be working for you. Safety is so important."

A representative for Uber replied: "That's totally unacceptable Maighréad! Send us an email at http://t.uber.com/contact so we can connect immediately."

Her experience has struck a chord with other Twitter users, with Steve-Uniting Taxis commenting: "T his could be one of your daughters..!"

Taxitwit commented: "T his is so dangerous, please be careful and inform TFL the regulators thanks."

An Uber spokesperson said: "On this trip the rider entered the incorrect destination leading to a different route, but this is not an acceptable response from any of the drivers that we partner with. We are investigating exactly what happened.

"Our policy when any incident is reported is to contact all involved and deactivate the account of the driver in question while we investigate."

This is not the first time a customer fell foul of their driver after taking a detour.

Last week Robert Howells vowed never to use the company again after a driver charged him £109 for what should have been a five mile journey after taking a huge detour.

Yeah we should take any old sh** from any old sh**.

Why would anyone argue with a Uber driver over the route they are taking?

Its all recorded and if Uber don't refund then claim back off the credit card firm.

I suspect like many pi**ed up slags this bird wanted a ruck.

Well she got a walk instead.
