Yes your right. I have said sorry for the wrong words to subject. To be a driver I my area knowledge test about £100 badge £270 medical £125 crb £44. I don't think you would pay that out if your not planning on driving a cab. 6 years ago we were sent letters from the council to say that all are detail may be giving to a governing body. A few drivers left the trade thinking it might have been the tax man.

We all use the NHS Schools and some other government services so why shouldn't drivers contribute towards that ? All drivers should be registered with the tax authorities although i suspect there are large nuumbers out there that aren't but I repeat again whilst most cabbies and PH are self employed it is NOT compulsory and there are some out there who are actually EMPLOYED so proof of sel employment would be discriminatory

The thing I can never get my head around with self assessment is the bit about paying 50% on account for the following year. When I do the next years return I always forget that I have already paid this bit. i have finally nailed it this year after a long call to HMRC. The result being that I have overpaid so much tax that I have already covered all last years tax and the 50% for next year. Happy days. \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

Uber is under 1 year old in Birmingham, all the PH drivers with Uber probably already had plates/badges

I didn't quote it as a fact. Just from what I have read. How many drivers do you think have gained their badge just to work for UBER?

In London, they will help you get a PH licence.

I'd imagine a large number go through the necessary steps to get their PH licecne to work for Uber.

Don't know about other cities.
