honestly cant understand why a ph taxi driver would join a union tbh, if you gave the owners chit or anything they would just say " hand your datahead in" & your gone, & once word got around to the other offices you probably wouldn't get a job there either, they only have one system in place , there's, simple as that , & if you don't like it move to another office ( although they are all the same, money grabbing clunts that don't give a flying fook about the drivers so long as they pay there rent ) ) although, if i was a hack it could be useful for the "singular rather than the collective"
Ven i always admire you abruptness and yer avatar is the best on the site
Your points well proprietors in London wouldnt dream of blacklisting Drivers, i realise in your manor its different but in effect you proprietors are UNITING against the Drivers maybe theres a lesson there?
Besides problems with the LA and Police where the Unions legal assistance is invaluable there are frequent other issues i have cleared up easily
REMEMBER PROPRIETORS HAVE TO BE FIT AND PROPER AND ARE TERRIFIED OF AGGRESSIVE PRESS COVERAGE
So when they with hold earnings deposits from drivers one phone call informing the clunt that X Union has instructed their solicitors to take them to a Court and by the way this AFTERNOON WE are reporting you to the LA and Mayor chair of Licensing Ctte invariably led to immediate payment to the Driver, they were extremely wary of a 600000 strong organisation jumping on emm and then there was the promise of press coverage !!
Power and influence a single Driver can only dream of and all this without the Driver having to be personally involveld and still able to work.
Then of course was threats about working Dangerous hours ie you will do 6 15 hour days

immediately we responded with reports to the authoritys and their customers asking do you feel it safe to put your employees in this company's vehicles ?

which soon bought them to heel

coupled with press releases of course from our full time press office.
Then theres the school run malarky Drivers working excessive hours, being underpaid meant we exploited our political clout with the Councils procuring the School runs,
RACIAL DISCRIMINATION ON WORK DISTRIBUTION WAS EASILY PROVEABLE USING THEIR OWN RECORDS AND WE WERE ABLE STOP THAT FREQUENTLY.
Many offices fell foul of employment ie bogus self employment regs and our legal teams mullered many of them.
There are very many issues a Union can assist with and improve the Drivers working enviroment and do theres an old saying
United you negotiate................................on your own you BEG .........................too true in my experience in the Taxi Chauffeur and PH industrys
the last thing any proprietor in London wanted was me or one our team on the phone or at their door like wise in other areas with other unions and officials
ADVICE TRY IT
