it doesnt matter that none of the offences seem to have occurred IN a taxi, the fact though that some of the pervs were taxi DRIVERS is enough for every council (County, District, City or parish even) to tar us all with the one brush and to go on a witch hunt the likes of which hasnt been seen since the days of Matthew Hopkins, or to implement testing last seen in the Spanish Inquisition .....

Nope........100% of LA's have done it for 99% of the UK cabbie force - it is down to the LA's disrespect/anyone can do the job attitude.

It is the only job/profession in the world that I know of - where there is no one on one interview.

I will not say that I know nothing about interviews as I conducted many myself over the years! However being a steady person, and not flitting from job to job, then perhaps I do not know as much as a person who has - perhaps you can enlighten me on that one?

With regards to getting a badge........NO actual interview is conducted down here. You do have a topography exam, and you do have to sit your drivers test. Unfortunately no one does a horses for courses sit down one to one, to see if you/I are suitable - do yours?

I used to sit on an interviewing panel where the panel of 3 people would interview several candidates for a job before selecting the person for the job. I was also face with such a panel before being selected to stand as a Councillor. (looks like they got that one wrong).

However I said....... ....and you have not knocked me back on that one by claiming that you know of one - I guess that the point has been made!

I also tried to make a point that Wannbee highlighted, by saying the LA's are very much at fault, basically we should not be carrying the can or the blame for their shortcomings. In the case of Rotherham do you know what their format is for a person to get a badge? If it was anything like Newport (Gwent) they did not even check if the guys/girls could read i.e maps/street names etc, that is how lackadaisical/complacent/blase LA's are towards the trade in general.

P.S. Just to keep you up to speed.......we are talking Nationally - and not just local

Theres COMPETENT (to do the the job) but the issue of predatory sex pests isnt the same, every council in the land is now cashing in on the Rotherham issue as if kids only get abused by taxi drivers which, as we know, is wide of the truth by a country mile
