Our Council have gone full retard once again.

Received a letter this morning telling us that they're reverting back to yearly DBS and DVLA checks. This comes only months after they implemented the 3 yearly DBS and DVLA checks.

They want our views by midnight on the 14th of August.

You couldn't make this up.

If drivers have signed up to the annual update service the Council can check it every day if they wish..................for free! same with the DVLA check. The driver just generates a code and the council can view the license for free.

Have they given a reason? I wasnt aware that a council was allowed to do this unless it was on special grounds such as medicals?

Does the DVLA code not have a time limit attached.

Yes and it can only be used once. The driver can generate a new code whenever it is required.

No, the council haven't given us that option. I think they're still running on carrier pigeon.

it all goes down to the justifying their jobs section

We can keep license fees high, because we still need to check DBS's on a yearly basis (some of these feckers are rapists you never heard of the Rotherham thing? ffs)

Oh and you've seen them drive - we'll need to check their licenses once a year too.

Whilst issuing you with a 3 year badge and charging the annual fee X 3 for it.
