I am buying a car next week, and turn it into a private hire vehicle. It has leather seats (intended for my benefit). will it wear out faster than fabric? should I buy cheapo seat covers and cover every seat except mine?

We have an '07 plate Laguna with leather seats. It has close to 200,000 miles on it now and the seats are all in good order.

The seat that takes the most wear is the driver seat in particular the bolster as to whether to use seat covers if you intend working weekend nights I would say yes.

this makes me laugh. i've been renting a minicab for the past 3 weeks, so have already started working as a private hire driver. Some fares are definitely not nice. fat / smelly / high on something

The Superb estate is huge (agreed fact), yesterday 4 got in......i shouda charged double for extra fuel....and they were going for a fecking meal!

Leather is OK as long as you treat it every month with leather treatment to stop it drying out. They sell some stuff in Wilkos for £4.99 and it does a good job. Don't buy this £1 stuff from Poundland it's useless.

pm me your address if you want & i will post these offf to you mate, i bought them for my xtype jag but sold it before i used it , saves them going to waste , i dont mind paying the p&p as you are just starting up, anyway , its up to you :wink:

Defo driver seat covers. Cheap as chips in Argos.

Besides price, the biggest beef against leather is how hot it gets in July and August.

No they aren't, they dehydrate the leather. Cracks will soon appear.
