Hi everybody i am new on here.

I want become a taxi driver in my home town of Wellingborough which is in Northamptonshire as there are a lot of people driving Taxi i have some questions which i want to ask as follows. I will be a driving a pre-book private taxi.

How much money can i make working Fri,Sat,Sun?

How does the whole processes work i mean how am i told were to pick people up and how much fare to charge by the metre?

Will i need to give a receipt to customers?

If customers want to pay by card will i have to take payment?

It will be appreciated if someone can answer my questions please. Thank you in advance

If you work long hours those nights you should earn a few quid. What that is and will that be enough depends on a million questions and answers.

I believe data screens will give you the work, or radios, or pieces of paper.

Yes customers sometimes require receipts, but you are the first newbie that has ever asked that in their first post, so well done.

As for card payment, if the firm you work with says yes, then yes, if they say no, then no.

Thanks for your reply when i say working Fri/Sat/Sun i mean working 8am to 8pm I approached one Taxi driver while shopping in Tesco today and asked how money he makes he said the company he works for supply the car insurance and fuel what ever he makes they take 60% and he gets 40%. My question is if this person makes £100 in ten hours he only makes £40 can this be true or was he just telling me false information?

Its rude to ask what he makes..

in ten hours he should TAKE (not make) @ £15/hr = £150

40% of that is £60

enjoy

most taxi drivers will not tell you what they earn. Depending on the local trade where you are weekend nights are normally the best. but the bad side is the people you get in the car.

Normally the taxi company you 'rent' the car from take care of insurance . you pay for the fuel only and the rent. normally rents are half and full. Find out whatever they are and workout what is best for you.

as for the jobs most will be either on your phone through an app or on the radio. once again see what your local companies do around you

Wellingborough, I spent a fortnight there one afternoon. There are a couple of late boozers but he whole place is shut by midnight. You'll get some work tanking up and down the A45 to Northampton weekend nights and there's some night life in Kettering. Don't get too excited about earning a decent living, the place is not awash with jobs or spare cash. Negotiate your first six months rental right down then keep it there, it's slim pickings.
