Possibly working outwith their home area, when you apply for insurance they ask where do you live, and your quote is given for you working mainly that area, if your working 50 60 miles away 90% of the time your premiums should reflect the other area

If that were the case Skippy then the question would not be where do you live but where do you intend to work for most of the time.

I would say the police could be at risk of getting sued if they are targeting Ufail without a good reason although I think i'm right in saying they have done similar against Rossendale licensed taxis (Huddersfield ?)

Has a person who obtains insurance for a TAXI licensed by an Authority miles away from where he lives and works that vehicle predominately outside that licensing district without informing the insurance company obtained insurance by deception?
If so insurance cover will most likely be deemed as null and void.

I think it depends on any questions being asked by the insurance. If they just ask for your address and you answer correctly then you haven't deceived them. If they ask which authority you are licensed with and you answer correctly you have not deceived them. Those are the only questions that I have ever been asked. No insurance company has ever asked me where my vehicles intend to work. It may be difficult for insurance companies because some people who only do airport transfers may spend very little time within their own area.

when you take out car insurance they ask you where you live but the cover is not geographically limited so why is taxi insurance other than the additional hire and reward element which as far as i know is dependant on you being actually licensed

I think the question here is are the uber drivers invalidating their license and hence their insurance by going to work in York ?

Probably down to the number of ube drivers who take a hire and reward policy out submit a copy to uber then cancel and take out a sdp policy

If their vehicles are licensed and plated they should not be able to do that and they would get fairly hefty cancellation charges would it be worth it ?

Perhaps the solution to that is for the DVLA computer to record vehicles licensed as taxi/PH and flag these to the police if policy changes

If they were to be doing this kind of thing it would just be the cover note that would be issued and sent to UBER. At the cover note stage they may not have parted with any money at all.
