The E-220 common rail deisel is uncommonly good on fuel, too ! Its cheaper to run than a 2litre TDCi Mondeo fer chrisakes.

Lower depreciation, better fuel economy, brilliant reliability, easy to clean MB Tex (watch out for dealers who try to palm you off with leatherette - it aint MB Tex!), and a 300 to 500,000 mile life span on one engine. And, above all, as Tom says, a customer perception second to none!

Downsides: Service costs are high from MB dealers if you dont do your own service work. ANd some dealers are crap anyway. Pick a good dealer.

Parts can be expensive too. Try "Europarts" for good quality pattern parts and original manufacturer discounted parts.

I'll second that, the TDCI engine is a bag of W**K. My MPG is 22 MPG. It's due in the dealers on Wednesday to see if it can be sorted. It's had a new fuel pump, 4 new injectors. On Wednesday they are going to change the software on the car to see if that makes a difference. DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE CARS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nidge, we have one Mondy TDCi thats good, and one thats awful on fuel. And it aint the drivers, as they swapped cars for a week.

Is yours the 135 hp Mondeo? Our 135 is awful, yet the smaller one is ggod.

I dont wish to appear smug or anything, but my Merc Eurocab (well sorta Eurocab) regularly turns in around 35 mpg.

Hmmmmmmmm. Now theres an idea. A Humvee on the fleet would be pretty cool eh?

Get good publicity plug too, Nidge.

And hey, they have a wicked turning circle. Well rude.

(I hope you all appreciate the "young" language I am picking up dudes.)

Well, I thought she was everso sweet, and not particularly ugly to look at. But, when she turned up dressed as a cheerleader with short pleated skirt and fishnets, at our local pub where the day drivers meet on a Friday night, and announced to all and sundry that she was "a bit of a slut really" it opened up a side of her character I had certainly not seen before when she works in the office!

To say I found it all a little embarassing (you can imagine the comments), was only upstaged when at chucking out time she invited the whole lot of us back to her place to "finish off her vodka".

Imagine the delight for the night-shift driver in the minibus who turned up to pick us all up (most of us half or totally [edited by admin]), and was able to report over the open radio channel "that he had just picked up the boss, andy and the rest of the day shift, who were all going round to Andy's new bird's house for a gang session!"

As they all disgorged from the minibus at her house, I hid behind the seat, and got the driver to drop me off at home on the way back.

Sadly, this will give the entire staff of the circuit much fun for the next few days at my expense.

As this was my first foray out into the world of dating again, since I lost the wife a few years back, it was like getting hit with a sledgehammer across the bridge of the nose.

I think, as a sorta calculated guess, I am gonna stay single for the rest of my life now.

I F**** give up.
