Detectives are searching for a man in connection with an armed robbery on a private hire taxi driver.
Merseyside Police have issued a CCTV appeal after a driver was robbed at knifepoint on Thursday, December 22.
The driver parked his red Peugeot car on Bridge Street in St Helens , opposite the Nelson pub, to go to a nearby shop.
When he returned to his car an unknown male jumped into the front passenger seat armed with a knife. He threatened the driver and demanded to be taken to the Halewood area.
He also demanded cash, which the driver handed over. When the car stopped in the car park of the Eagle and Child pub on Church Road in Halewood the male got out and the taxi driver was able to drive away.
At approximately 6.10pm on Thursday 22nd December 2016 the taxi driver parked his red Peugeot car on Bridge Street in St Helens, opposite the Nelson public house, to go to a nearby shop.
An investigation is ongoing and CCTV enquiries have been carried out.
The man is described as being white, aged in his mid-30s, stocky build, with short hair. He spoke with a Liverpool accent.
Officers have also issued CCTV images of a man who they believe could help them with their investigation.
