But there must be a provision in the policy for exceptional condition or circumstances.
I have successfully got vehicles plated outside of our Councils age limits.

There is also a way for an age limit without it being an age limit.....

By refusing to license euro 3, or 4 after a certain date. Not much wriggle room there.

Non purpose built Hackney or PH must be less than 6 years old for 1st plate here

Once plated and over 6 years they have 3 tests a year and "exceptional condition" inspection by LO

our "Special Events" PH plate (can be LHD/side seats or just a maybach) can be older than 6 years for 1st plate

Our age limit for first license is 6 years old. The first vehicle I plated outside this limit was in 2002 when I had a 1991 vehicle plated for the first time. I also plated a 1993 vehicle in 2006 a 1998 vehicle in 2006 and a 2003 vehicle plated in 2010.

Our councils view is that age limits are not legal and that if challenged legally would cost a lot to defend a case that they feel they would lose. Therefore we have no age restrictions, but having said that , vehicles have to be perfect in order to stay licensed.

Age restriction goes against "best practice guidance 2010" and that guidance I believe has not been removed.

Everyone should object to an age policy.

I think it would be difficult to object to an existing age policy but maybe a change to that policy.
