Man who punched partner in eye allowed to remain as taxi driver A MAN who punched his partner in the eye has been told he will not have his taxi licence revoked.
Barry Dalton, of McCreery Street, pleaded guilty to assaulting his partner – which he claims was in self-defence – on January 16 and is awaiting sentence from Dumbarton Sheriff Court.
The 38-year-old said: “My partner went for me first. I have never been in any trouble with the law. It’s completely out with my normal code of conduct.
“We have parted ways, I’ve left the property just to avoid anything else.
“I don’t want to jeopardise my livelihood – I don’t do this as a second job, it’s my main job.”
West Dunbartonshire Council’s licensing committee decided not to take away his licence wen it met last week.
Councillor Lawrence O’Neill, committee chair, said: “You remain as a taxi driver.”
