I'm surprised it has taken this long for Carswell to walk out but he's gone now so only a matter of time before UKIP fade into obscurity

A valiant effort to change the political landscape but ultimately a failure

tamford’s only UKIP county councillor has defected to the Conservative Party after stating “the politicial tectonic plates have shifted”.

Coun Robert Foulkes was elected to the Stamford North ward in a December 2014 by-election – winning with a majority of 132 votes.

Announcing his decision to resign from UKIP, Coun Foulkes said he was “immensely proud” of what the party had achieved, but he added “the Conservative party is the best way forward both for the UK and for Stamford”. His decision has been welcomed by Lincolnshire County Council leader Martin Hill and Grantham and Stamford MP Nick Boles. Councillor Foulkes said: “After a great deal of thought I have decided to resign from UKIP and join the Conservatives. “I’m immensely proud of what UKIP have achieved but following the historic vote to leave the EU the political tectonic plates have shifted and the world is now in a new era.

You cannot trust this person,he was elected on a different manifesto to the Tories therefore he should resign from the Council to allow a by-election to be called to allow the voters to express their rights on who represents them,

Are you taking the pi55? How is it a valiant failure? They have managed to get a referendum to either stay or leave the EU and they even got the result that they wanted. Now with the Country committed to that path and people divided they simply walk away and leave the mess behind.
That is what they wanted to achieve and in that they have been a success.

UKIP have done the job they were created for.

Now some will say this government will water down Brexit and/or bow down to Brussels. Personally I don’t believe they will, cos if they did they would no longer be in government.

and who is going to replace them Corbyn ?

May will give in to Brussels she is certainly NOT an Iron lady in fact i don't rate her much as a politician. I believe the EU will have the last laugh and stitch us up with an awkward agreement which leaves us shackled to the EU economically

she will sell us out; quit politics and then take a nice well paid job as a Brussels Eurocrat

Her body language with Junker tells us that all is well in bed - truly trying to shaft us.

God no, it would be replaced by a more right wing Tory government.

Last UKIP member on Great Yarmouth council resigns

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-44111948

A council's last remaining UKIP member has resigned from the party following a heated row with a senior figure.
Councillor Chris Walch will now represent his ward on Great Yarmouth Borough Council as an independent.
Mr Walch said he could no longer remain in a party that has "within its so-called hierarchy a bully and liar".
Last week he was recorded by the BBC arguing with UKIP's home affairs spokesman David Moreland, who called the party branch "a disgrace".
Mr Moreland and Mr Walch swore at each other and pointed fingers in the ill-tempered exchange, which was recorded in a Great Yarmouth shop during a BBC interview.
It erupted after Mr Walch accused Mr Moreland of calling his wife a stripper on a previous occasion.
During the row, Mr Moreland blamed UKIP's collapse in the town on party "infighting".
A UKIP spokesman said he was "disappointed" by Mr Walch's decision to resign from the party.

1 down 2 to go till they are completely powerless
