Salim Mehajer arrested 'over an assault on a taxi driver after a dispute over an EFTPOS machine outside The Star casino' in Sydney
Former Auburn deputy mayor Salim Mehajer was arrested at 5.10am on Sunday
Mr Mehajer, 30, is being questioned by police but no charges have been laid
He allegedly assaulted a 38-year-old taxi driver before getting into another taxi
The incident is believed to have involved an EFTPOS machine

Salim Mehajer has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a taxi driver outside The Star casino in Sydney overnight.

The former Auburn deputy mayor was arrested in Darlinghurst at 5.10am after jumping into a second taxi after the alleged incident, which is believed to have involved an EFTPOS machine.

Mehajer, 30, is being questioned by police but no charges have been laid, according to The Daily Telegraph.

no but it is nice to occasionally see stories from overseas that show the uk is not alone in these kinds of events
