Brum do. Wolves & Walsall don't seem too.

I can't see why you have to be taxi 24/7.

Once a vehicle is licensed it is licensed 24/7.

Doncaster you have to have all your signage on at all times, you can have magnets as long as you don't take them off

Because once it is licensed it is no longer your private vehicle. it is a licensed vehicle that can only be driven by a licensed driver. That does not stop you using it for your own use but because it is now a licensed vehicle you have to display all the bits that your council state which will be the plates and the top sign in the case of a hackney and any other signage that is in the conditions.

I get it is their 'rules', but their rules don't make sense. Can you see my point of view in that they do not pay you a retainer for permanently displaying as a taxi, in fact they rip you off with over inflated fee's for which you get a shote service. Here in Brum you cannot even have magnets, it has to be a permanent sticker.

If for example you are out with the kids on a Friday evening at the cinema, and some [edited by admin] tries to rip your door off because he thinks you are a taxi. How do you think that would go down with young kids? What if someone was injured. All because you can never clock off from your self employed job. It's stupid. How anybody cannot see that I'll never know.

Sorry but they are the rules that we all have to work with.

Do you mean the plate?

plates and door signs (council) for hacks and PH are supposed to be fitted permanentley...

but most are on magnetics and attached when working, heres the silly bit....

Bearing in mind the council sticky hackney signs are supposed to "be attached to rear doors at the same level as the door handles" the council gave a couple of Audi and BMW owners dispensation to fit them on the rear 1/4 panels cos the magnets would grip to aluminium

then 1 put the STICKY sign on the rear 1/4..............

Whats the issue having them on magnets? Is it theft, or Abdul letting the mrs drive it?

Look, if you don't want them on your vehicle, just take them off and tell the Council what they can do with them. Then you can see if they will back down or prosecute you.

Of course they won't back down.

Nobody yet has come up with a justifiable reason why you need to display council signage while out with the family, at a private wedding, going to your main job, parking at the airport going on your hols, driving through France etc. Please people, help me make sense other than "Its the rules". The rules don't make sense.

What if someone was to get in your car [edited by admin] up while your children are in the back? This is assuming you have left it unlocked, which is not good practice, but not illegal. The anxiety this can create with everybody starting at you, you can't go to the cinema on a Friday evening with the kids without fear if being harassed.

Because that's what the acts and subsequent judgments say.
