IMPORTANT INFORMATION

E-Learning Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults & Child Sexual Exploitation

The Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing policy was last revised in April 2015 and since this revision there have been a number of areas of national concern surrounding taxi licensing which was identified by the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) in Rotherham carried out by Alexis Jay OBE and the subsequent inspection report of Louise Casey CB.

We are writing to inform you that the authority has addressed the concerns raised in the Rotherham reports and has agreed to the introduction of mandatory training on Safeguarding and Child Sexual Exploitation for new and existing taxi and private hire drivers and operators within the district.

South Kesteven District Council has already included a comprehensive guide to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in its taxi and private hire policy. The inclusion of mandatory training on Safeguarding Everyone and on CSE for all taxi and private hire drivers and operators will strengthen this and bring us into line with other surrounding local authorities thereby meeting the requirements of the Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB).

The new changes will be implemented on 1 July 2017.

The training will be by way of an e-learning course provided free of charge by the Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children Board whereby applicants receive training and answer questions on-line. Attached to this email are instructions on how to register on the course.

It will be a requirement that you s_ubmit your pass certificates along with your annual check or renewal paperwork. Failure to complete and pass the training would, in accordance with the current policy, result either in the driver/operator licence not being renewed or the matter being referred to the licensing committee which could potentially result in suspension or revocation of the licence.

Existing drivers and operators

All existing drivers and operators will be required to complete and pass the safeguarding awareness training and the CSE module on their next annual check or renewal, whichever comes first.

New drivers and operators

New applicants will be required to pass both courses before they apply for a licence.

Please direct any queries you may have regarding the implementation to licensing@southkesteven.gov.uk. All other queries regarding the e-learning course should be directed to :lscb_training@lincolnshire.gov.uk

Kind regards

In other words you don't know if it's the applicant doing the test or their brother/sister/friend/base owner ? #-o

BUT under the 3 year license rules you have to provide a DVLA Check code every 12 months and if you have NOT completed this by that time you will be suspended until you have. I would not be surprised if a certain community in Peterborough haven't collated all the info needed and are busy completing the training for the drivers whilst a few local independents and part timers are going to get caught out
