They have been prosecuted by a council...I believe it is Basingstoke...for plying for hire...and uber are appealing on their behalf...this case will be very important for the whole uber operation in the UK...If they are found to be ''plying for hire'' which I believe they will be...uber will have to change the mode of operation or quit the UK....

If that is the case surely the driver would need an operators license.

Thus they 'operate', thus they;

'in the course of business to make provision for the invitation or acceptance of bookings for a private hire vehicle'.

Thus they accept, not facilitate.
