I have just been told that one of the owner drivers in town has been informed that he can't have his new vehicle plate due on Feb 2nd because his medical expires at the end of February. #-o
Since when are the 2 connected. How many vehicle owners must there be who don't even drive the cars.

It is illegal for them to try and carry out that threat.
On another matter when does his driver license expire as they could have muddled up the two.

His drivers license is not due for renewal yet. When the 3 year license was introduced it threw everything out of kilter. DBS and medical checks which are every 3 years do not fall due at the same time as the license for most drivers here.

Even if the two licences were in some way connected, I've never heard of a vehicle proprietor's licence being dependent on medical criteria.

Either council has cocked up, or they're just playing silly beggars.

I thought that, assuming you weren't a criminal, a pulse was sufficient for a proprietor's licence

You do not need a clean record or DBS to be a proprietor.

This is the bit about taxi rentals that ive wondered about...

1st off i believe if i hire a cab to work its a self drive hire

2nd here the "plater" has to provide insurance details

next council along it seems different, that council just requires the driver working has a badge

There is not a minimum age relating to a proprietor.

I know of 1 base owner who has 130 cars renting a PDA at £125/week, and creams £200K a year off accounts, he cant have a badge due to a record for ABH and assault... not done bad tho has he..
